The Ayaneo KUN, a new handheld gaming PC, is set to rival the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. While pricing and availability details have not yet been released, it is anticipated to have better specifications, leading to a higher price point. Recently, Ayaneo revealed the impressive features of the upcoming device, including four times the battery capacity of the Steam Deck, a larger and higher-resolution display, and more robust internals. It is powered by the AMD Ryzen Phoenix 7040 series APUs.
Prior to the Steam Deck, handheld gaming PCs were not widely popular. However, the Steam Deck's unique design and affordability caused a significant shift in the handheld gaming market. The ability to play numerous Steam games while on the move for just $399 generated immense excitement. Valve's entry into this segment provided other companies, like Ayaneo, with the confidence and motivation to enhance their handheld gaming devices. Ayaneo, for instance, has been consistently releasing new models of their handheld gaming PCs since 2020.
The Valve Steam Deck redefines the concept of a portable console, catering to those who prefer gaming primarily at home.
The Ayaneo lineup welcomes its latest addition, the Ayaneo KUN. Its unparalleled performance stems from the Ryzen 7 7840U APU, featuring the exceptional Radeon 780M GPU. This powerful combination, currently featured only in a select few portable gaming PCs, sets the KUN apart. Boasting a spacious 8.4-inch 2.5K (1600p) IPS display, most likely operating at a seamless 60Hz, the company neglects to disclose specific frame rate details. These remarkable specifications are overshadowed by one outstanding feature—the KUN's battery capacity, surpassing that of the Steam Deck by four folds.

Ayaneo's upcoming handheld gaming device, the Ayaneo KUN, will feature the latest AMD Ryzen 7040 series APUs with integrated Radeon 700M graphics. The KUN boasts an impressive 8.4-inch 1600p display, accompanied by hall-effect joysticks and touchpads. However, the standout feature of the KUN is its exceptionally large 75Wh 19500mAH battery, which is approximately four times the capacity of the Steam Deck. The KUN's battery capacity, which surpasses that of the Steam Deck's 5313mAh (40Wh) battery and the ROG Ally's (40Wh) battery, is a logical choice considering the power-consuming internals of the Ayaneo handheld. With the 7840U APU and the high-resolution screen, it will be intriguing to witness how this substantial battery capacity translates to real-world usage. For comparison, the Steam Deck typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours with its 7-inch 800p 60Hz display and 15W maximum APU.
Ayaneo KUN Design
On either side of the large 8.4-inch screen, a combination of buttons and touch inputs are present. The KUN boasts Hall-effect joysticks and triggers, a D-pad located on the left side, Windows Hello sensors, rounded touchpads on both sides, and an additional four customizable buttons at the back. Located at the bottom is a USB Type-C port, while another one can be found on top, alongside a USB Type-A port. At the bottom, dual stereo speakers are positioned, and presumably, a microSD card slot is also present. Ayaneo will offer the KUN in two color options, black and white.
Ayaneo Kun Availability
Currently, there is no information available regarding the pricing or availability of the KUN from Ayaneo. However, based on comparisons with other devices, it can be inferred that the KUN will be more expensive than the Steam Deck, which starts at $399, and the ROG Ally, which is priced at $599. Ayaneo's 2S model, starting at $1299, offers superior specifications to the Steam Deck, featuring the same Ryzen 7 7840U APU and a larger battery. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that the Ayaneo KUN will have a higher price tag than the 2S.
