Discover the duration of the highly anticipated Mean Girls musical movie Dive into the captivating world of this cinematic iteration and unravel the length of this thrilling adaptation

How long is the new cinematic musical iteration of Mean Girls with numerous adaptations now available? It has been an iconic moment of cinema for 20 years since its original release. Tina Fey, the original film writer, inevitably created a musical adaptation. The Tony-nominated musical hit Broadway in 2018, but its 833-show run was sadly cut short due to global restrictions in 2021.

The musical film adaptation of Mean Girls is making a comeback on the big screen. With movies being longer nowadays, there's no intermission like in musicals. So, how long will the 2024 Mean Girls movie musical be and how does it compare to previous versions of the franchise?

How long is the Mean Girls musical movie?

The upcoming Mean Girls movie will be 1 hour and 52 minutes long, so just under 2 hours.

The movie is longer than the original Lindsey Lohan film, which is 1 hour and 37 minutes, but shorter than the Tina Fey written musical, which is 2 hours and 30 minutes including intermission. Regina actor Reneé Rapp mentioned that there may be different songs in the movie compared to the musical version.

In an interview with Fandango, it was revealed that the 2024 Mean Girls film will not be a remake of the 2004 movie or the Broadway Musical, but rather a combination of both. The plot, originally based on Rosalind Wiseman’s 2002 book Queen Bees and Wannabes, follows the story of Cady Heron, who, despite growing up on an African savanna, finds herself unprepared for the vicious ways of her new home in suburban Illinois. As a naive newcomer, she becomes the target of a trio of popular but ruthless girls led by Regina George. When Cady decides to put an end to Regina’s reign, she discovers that crossing a Queen Bee comes with consequences.

Originally intended for Paramount+ streaming, Mean Girls will now have a theatrical release in September. Don't miss the chance to see it in theaters and dress in pink to join in the fun! The musical movie is set for release on January 12, 2024, and features a talented cast including Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivy, and others. pic.twitter.com/7SMLPSNKlV

As a hard fan of the original Mean Girls movie, I am thrilled to hear about the upcoming musical movie adaptation. The original film is a classic and I have seen it countless times. I am excited to see how the musical will bring the story to life in a new way. I am also curious to see how the movie will compare to the Broadway musical, which I have also seen. I am confident that the movie will be a success and I can't wait to see it when it comes out in January 2024.

I am also excited to see the new cast of Mean Girls. Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli’i Cravalho, and Jaquel Spivy are all talented actors and I think they will bring something new to the roles. I am also glad to hear that Tina Fey is involved in the movie, as she knows the characters and the story better than anyone. I am confident that she will help to make the movie a success.
