6 Not Prioritizing Normal Attacks

Not only does his striking appearance and captivating personality shine through in Acts 3 and 4 of Fontaine's Archon quest, but Wriothesley also boasts the distinction of being the first Cryo catalyst user in Genshin Impact. With such exciting attributes, players eagerly await his gameplay potential. To effectively harness his abilities, it is vital to pay attention to specific aspects of his kit.
Unlike Neuvillette, another recently introduced catalyst user, Wriothesley utilizes a diverse array of attacks to deal damage. Instead of relying solely on charged attacks, Wriothesley's kit grants him a 5-hit combo for his normal attacks, alongside his charged attacks. These charged attacks are pivotal in maximizing his primary damage output. Additionally, when Wriothesley activates his Elemental Skill, he enters a heightened state, augmenting the power of his normal attacks and enabling him to inflict even greater damage.
5 Not Moving Mid-combo
However, it is important for Wriothesley to not overlook the value of charged attacks. These attacks can also be improved and should be used whenever feasible to capitalize on their advantages, such as the ability to heal or deal increased damage without using stamina.
Wriothesley stands out from other characters by maintaining his combo-hit count even while moving or using his Elemental Skill. This unique trait allows players to seamlessly continue their combos after sprinting or utilizing his Elemental Skill. As a result, players have the advantage of adapting to enemy positioning and efficiently managing the Elemental Skill cooldown. While optimizing Wriothesley's 5-hit combo rotation is still important, players have more flexibility and are not bound by rigid constraints. However, it is crucial to remain cautious of potential interruptions through alternative means.
4 Not Knowing His Arkhe Ability
As with all other characters from Fontaine, Wriothesley possess an Arkhe ability, which can be helpful for exploration and defeating enemies. Wriothesley's Arkhe is aligned with Ousia and can only be activated through his Elemental Burst, except when he is underwater. When his Elemental Burst ends, Wriothesley unleashes Surging Blade, dealing Ousia-based damage. It is interesting to note that while the cooldown for his Elemental Burst is 15 seconds, Surging Blade has a cooldown of 10 seconds, similar to other characters' Arkhe abilities. However, Wriothesley may not be able to use it as frequently as desired due to limited access to his Elemental Burst.
3 Focusing on His Burst Too Much
While some characters benefit greatly from frequently upgrading or utilizing their Elemental Burst ability due to additional perks, Wriothesley falls into a different category. Despite having a relatively low Energy cost of 60, Wriothesley's Burst should not be prioritized over enhancing his Normal Attack or Skill solely for the sake of dealing additional damage. Such a strategy would be a waste of resources and hinder the player's ability to maximize his overall damage output. However, players can still make use of his Elemental Burst whenever it becomes available, even if it cannot be incorporated into every rotation in most cases.
2 Not Paying Attention to His HP
Wriothesley's damage output scales with ATK, but his kit also includes an HP drain and gain mechanic, common among Fontaine characters. After using his skill, Wriothesley will drain a small percentage of his HP during his enhanced normal attack combo. Since it's percentage-based, players don't necessarily have to focus on accumulating HP, but they should still monitor his remaining HP.
To ensure Wriothesley can perform enhanced normal attacks after using his skill, it's important to keep his HP above 50%. If his HP drops below 60%, he can recover 30% of his maximum HP by using charged attacks. While Wriothesley can easily maintain this HP balance on his own, having a shield or healer character can be advantageous to counter potentially powerful enemy hits.
1 Not Positioning Him Right
In Genshin Impact, most Catalyst users prefer combat at a distance, except for Heizou and now, Wriothesley. Like Heizou, Wriothesley's animations involve melee-based moves, but with boxing instead of kicks. This means that Wriothesley excels in close combat.
Furthermore, Wriothesley's attacks are focused on single targets due to their limited range. Therefore, it is important to position him accurately and switch between enemies when necessary. Utilizing sprints and other techniques becomes quite valuable, especially if he is used in a Freeze hypercarry combo that keeps all enemies frozen in close proximity to each other.
