How to Beat Ifrit
During the third main scenario quest "Flight of the Fledgling" in Final Fantasy 16, Clive's success in the previous quest quickly fades away. Despite his accomplishments in slaying goblins and a morbol, things take a turn for the worse. This part of the prologue doesn't offer much exploration or discovery for players, but it plays a crucial role in establishing the game's setting and serves as a tutorial for Eikon fights.
Follow Wade
Instead of controlling Clive, players in Final Fantasy 16 will assume the role of Joshua in the main scenario quest. Joshua possesses a unique set of abilities different from Clive's. As a temporary playable character, players are unable to utilize Ability Points or change their equipment. Follow Wade as he leads the way down the stairs and proceed to open the door.
Upon entering the next area, a solitary enemy awaits. Joshua possesses access to considerably stronger magic and is capable of casting Curaga. Utilize magic against the enemy while Wade assists in delivering the finishing blow. Proceed through the kitchen door to confront two additional enemies. Once they have been dealt with, continue onward through the door, advancing towards another door where a single enemy awaits. Upon entering the next room, approach Tyler to initiate a cutscene.
Hold the Enemy Off
Once the cutscene concludes, Clive takes control again as players resume their gameplay. They should proceed through the door and retrieve the Stoneskin Tonic positioned near the barrel. In the subsequent room, Final Fantasy 16 players will confront a group of adversaries, including a caster. It is essential for players to prioritize dealing with the caster before engaging with the rest of the enemies. After leaving the mess hall, players should collect the two items in the adjacent room before proceeding through the door.
How to Beat Knight of the Binding Dawn
Out in the courtyard, players will come across another group of adversaries. While they may not pose a significant challenge, players should not assume victory once this group is defeated. Shortly after, a dragoon will descend, triggering a Cinematic Evasion. Following this event, the battle against the Knight of the Binding Dawn will commence. Differing from the previous boss encounter, the Knight of the Binding Dawn is a nimble opponent who launches swift and relentless attacks.
Don't solely focus on continuously attacking the boss, as this may hinder your ability to evade his attacks. Keep an eye out for when the Knight of the Binding Dawn performs a Jump. Be sure to move away from the blue spot on the ground to avoid being hit. Whenever feasible, deplete his Will Gauge and stagger him to maximize your damage output.
At approximately half of the boss's health, players will be presented with an opportunity to execute a Cinematic Strike, allowing them to inflict damage while the boss is momentarily stunned. When the boss's health falls to 20% or lower, the basic "Jump" ability is upgraded to a "Double Jump" attack. This upgraded attack functions similarly to the original Jump, with the distinction that the boss will execute a second jump attack following the initial one. By continuously damaging the boss while evading the Double Jump attack, players will ultimately emerge victorious against the formidable Knight of the Binding Dawn.
How to Beat Ifrit
Even after the Knight of the Binding Dawn is defeated, the adventure in Final Fantasy 16 continues for players. Following a sequence of captivating cutscenes, players will embark on their first Eikon Battle. This thrilling encounter allows players to assume control of Phoenix as they strive to vanquish Ifrit, the formidable Eikon of Fire.
During the boss battle, players are limited to two actions. The first is to attack using the 'Triangle' button, but unlike the beginning of Final Fantasy 16, players must now aim their attacks using the left stick. Additionally, players can evade incoming attacks by pressing 'R1'. By holding down the 'Triangle' button and keeping the cursor on Ifrit, players can inflict damage on him.
When Ifrit starts to emit a bright glow, it indicates that he is about to charge towards the players. Players must use the 'R1' button at the correct moment to dodge this attack. At around 80% health, a Cinematic Evasion will occur instead of staggering the boss. This evasion maneuver will deal a significant amount of damage to Ifrit. Players should continue aiming and attacking the boss. Another opportunity for a Cinematic Evasion can be triggered at around 60% health. Finally, players should be prepared to execute a Cinematic Strike when Ifrit's health reaches 40%.
Defeat Ifrit by reducing his health to 10% or lower, triggering his powerful attack called Hellfire. Ensure that you bring him down to zero before the countdown ends. Despite Ifrit still casting Hellfire, players will have achieved victory and completed the quest "Flight of the Fledgling". Mark your calendars for the release of Final Fantasy 16 on June 22nd, exclusively for the PS5.
