Throughout the entirety of the Separate Ways DLC in Resident Evil 4 Remake, players will encounter various bosses, such as the notorious U-3, which was initially removed from the game. Prior to embarking on Ada Wong's side of the narrative, players may desire to know the number of boss battles they will encounter and the most effective strategies for overcoming them. This guide aims to address these inquiries and offer valuable tips for successfully facing the bosses in the Separate Ways DLC.
List of All Boss Fights in the Separate Ways DLC
The boss fights in RE4 Remake expansion are as follows: The Black Robe, El Gigante, Test Subject, and Saddler. Additionally, players will also encounter The Black Robe in an alternate form known as Pesanta or U-3, adding an extra boss battle to the roster.
The Black Robe (first encounter)
The Black Robe (second encounter)
El Gigante
Pesanta (U-3)
Test Subject
Saddler
The Black Robe
In the initial confrontation at the Church, target The Black Robe's head while avoiding his duplicates. When he seeks shelter behind his shadows, aim for the one exhibiting vibrant red eyes.
El Gigante
Second Encounter (Village): To defeat The Black Robe's shadows in the Village Square, make use of Flash Grenades. Just like in the previous confrontation, concentrate your attacks on the creature with glowing eyes to bring an end to the battle.
In Chapter 3, players encounter a formidable creature known as El Gigante. This giant enemy launches attacks at the players, but they can overcome it by grappling up to the rooftops and targeting the parasite on its back. Once the giant is momentarily stunned, players need to press RT (R2 on PlayStation) to execute a powerful melee attack on its Las Plaga. Repeating this strategic process two to three times will ultimately eliminate the monstrous threat.
Pesanta
Pesanta (U-3) is the enhanced version of The Black Robe, a genetically modified subject resembling a combination of a human and a scorpion. In Chapter 5 of the DLC, players are tasked with confronting this formidable entity within the tunnels of Gregorio's Waterway.
Initial Phase: Pesanta initiates its assault on players with three distinct moves: Lunge, Strike, and Projectile. Evade the first two attacks by timely pressing the B (Circle) and LB (L1) buttons, while also avoiding contact with its venomous offspring. While maneuvering around the vicinity, maintain a steady stream of fire towards its head until it succumbs to defeat.
Tail Form: Continuously circle the vicinity until the Tail emerges above the surface. Aim for the illuminated mark beneath its abdomen and puncture this region when the creature is immobilized. Utilize Flash Grenades to exterminate the spawning Novistadors.
Test Subject
The Test Subject is an unknown, lizard-looking creature that players come across in Chapter 6 while traversing the Comms Facility.
Players must initially flee from their pursuer and gain access to the sewage channel. Yet, while navigating their escape route from the Facility, players will encounter a chance to vanquish the Test Subject within the laser room by engaging in a Quick Time Event (QTE).
The prompt sequence for the QTE is as follows: B, B, B, and RB. (For PlayStation users, Circle, Circle, Circle, R1.)
Saddler
Saddler serves as the ultimate boss encountered in Chapter 7 of the Separate Ways DLC. To overcome him, players must focus on targeting the Las Plaga eye located within his mouth.
During the battle, Saddler will unleash a series of six attacks, including Lunge, Strike, Grab, Ground Attack, Poisonous Vomit, and Tornado Strike. The first five moves can be avoided and countered through dodging and parrying techniques (B/LB or Circle/L1). However, players must preemptively press the grapple button to evade the final move, the tornado lunge, before Saddler reaches them.
Resident Evil 4 Remake: Separate Ways is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
