In Final Fantasy 16, players will not only focus on the main story, where the protagonist Clive Rosfield explores Valisthea and confronts evil in various forms. There are also side quests to embark on throughout the game. These side quests become available as players progress further in the game. For those interested in completing the A Culinary Pilgrimage side quest, they will need to first initiate the Here Be Monsters main quest.

Upon Clive's return to The Hideaway at the start of the Here Be Monsters quest, two new side quests can be pursued. To kickstart the A Culinary Pilgrimage side quest in Final Fantasy 16, players should head to The Ale Hall and have a conversation with Yvan, the Kitchen Hand. Yvan can be found near the bar, engrossed in a book.

Yvan will inform Clive that Tomes has loaned him a cookbook brimming with recipes he is eager to replicate. Regrettably, the aspiring culinary virtuoso lacks the crucial ingredient required to prepare a particular dish. Fortunately, Clive happens to be in close proximity and is thus assigned the duty of procuring said ingredient.

Compounding the issue, the cookbook fails to specify the nature of the ingredient, merely hinting at its moniker as "Unwonted Violets."

When Clive takes on the A Culinary Pilgrimage side quest, he should make his way to Martha's Rest and quickly travel to head west. Once there, he should locate the Flesher standing at the final stall on the left. Engaging with the Flesher, Clive will come to understand that "Unwanted Violets" is just another name for scorpion tails.

Since scorpion tails are no longer available for purchase, Clive will need to personally acquire them by extracting them from live scorpions. In order to locate a nest of these creatures, he must retrace his steps back to the Obelisk, continue across the southern bridge, and proceed eastward into the area known as the Three Reeds. Once there, he will discover the scorpions residing in the northeastern dead end.

Upon entering this area, Clive will be faced with five Level 24 Lowland Scorpions, each of which drops an Unwonted Violet when they have been defeated.

Dealing with these enemies should not pose a significant threat to Clive, provided that he has optimized his gear and enhanced his Eikon abilities. However, it is worth noting that these foes are slightly more formidable compared to the majority of adversaries encountered in the Three Reeds. As long as Clive maintains a similar level of strength, these opponents should not present a significant challenge.

Upon successfully defeating the Lowland Scorpions, Clive can swiftly return to The Hideaway and approach Yvan once again. Presenting him with the prized Unwonted Violets, Yvan's immediate reaction is panic as he fears that incorporating scorpion tails into his culinary creation will result in a poisonous dish. With a mixture of doubt and determination, he bravely follows the recipe, bravely including the mysterious petals of the Unwonted Violets.

Yvan is initially unsettled by his culinary creation but quickly regains his composure, declaring it to be one of the most delicious things he has ever tasted. As the conversation concludes, the A Culinary Pilgrimage side quest comes to an end, and Clive is rewarded with a valuable accessory called the Badge of Mettle +1. This powerful item boosts Defense by 30 points.

Final Fantasy 16 can only be played on PlayStation 5.
