Final Fantasy 16 offers a linear gameplay experience, guiding players through immersive spaces filled with captivating cutscenes and intense boss battles. However, even after completing the game, there are still plenty of exciting activities to pursue, including the pursuit of all the trophies. Exclusive to PlayStation, Final Fantasy 16 presents players with the highly coveted platinum trophy, which can be obtained after acquiring the remaining 49 trophies. These trophies encompass a variety of tasks, ranging from mastering combat techniques to progressing through the main story missions.
One particular trophy that players may acquire early on in Clive's journey is the bronze Punisher trophy. This achievement is unlocked by successfully defeating ten enemies (excluding battles in the Hall of Virtue). Although players may naturally encounter opportunities to punish their adversaries, this guide seeks to delve deeper into the mechanics, providing a comprehensive understanding of how it functions so that players can fully exploit its advantages.
How to Punish in Final Fantasy 16
During the main storyline of Final Fantasy 16, there will be instances where the enemies become incapacitated, whether they are lying on the ground, on their back, or in mid-air. When players approach these dazed enemies, they can effortlessly trigger a Punish by simply pressing the square button on the PS5 controller, which performs a basic sword attack. This initiates a smooth animation where Clive launches a potent strike, sending the enemy flying backwards. It is important to note that this feature is exclusive to regular enemies encountered throughout the chapters, rather than being applicable to major boss battles.
To incapacitate enemies, it is recommended to execute a series of moves to initiate combos on the monsters. Alternatively, players can control Torgal and activate his Ravage ability by pressing the left directional input on the d-pad. This move will cause Torgal's loyal dog to launch enemies into the air, allowing Clive to execute aerial combos that may render an enemy in a vulnerable state, ready to be punished.
If Clive equips the Ring of Timely Assistance into one of his accessory slots, Torgal will autonomously perform his actions. This handy item is obtained during the course of the story and enables players to enhance Torgal's abilities without their direct control. It proves to be a valuable asset for those who feel overwhelmed by Clive's repertoire of moves and seek to alleviate some of their concerns.
Final Fantasy 16 is available on PS5.
