Where to Find The Nine of Knives in Final Fantasy 16
First accessible during the main quest, Out of the Shadow, players should make their way to Dhalmekia, more precisely, an area known as The Jaw. It is here that the fearsome Nine of Knives awaits, located on the main trail in the heart of The Jaw. Approach with caution, as danger lurks.
How to Beat The Nine of Knives in Final Fantasy 16
Caution is advised when facing the Nine of Knives, as this enemy is now more aggressive and hits harder than before. In order to defeat this enemy, be aware of the following:
The Nine of Knives is skilled in melee combat and often attacks swiftly, even when Clive is at a distance. Be vigilant for lunges, especially the spinning lunge, and prioritize dodging. The timing of these attacks may vary, so consider adopting a more defensive playing style if feasible.
Further away, the enemy has two options to attack: Poison Mist or Smokescreen. If they choose Poison Mist, the Nine of Knives will release a damaging mist right in front of him, so it's important to swiftly sidestep and counterattack. On the other hand, if the enemy opts for Smokescreen, it will create a cloud of smoke near Clive, which will explode shortly after. In this case, immediately move away from the area and remain alert for any subsequent attacks.
The Nine of Knives will also employ the Undermine special attack once his health drops below half. This enables him to dig into the ground and tunnel directly towards Clive. To evade the ensuing smoke cloud, constantly move away and strike back when the enemy misses.
Although the Nine of Knives can inflict significant damage if his attacks land, players can still counterattack effectively upon successfully dodging. Utilize Eikonic Abilities to gradually diminish his health and Will meter, and unleash powerful attacks when he becomes Staggered. Maintain good health and time your dodges wisely, and this formidable adversary will soon meet his demise.
Defeating the Nine of Knives grants players with 5750 XP, 90 Ability Points, 10500 Gil, and 30 Renown. Additionally, there are also rewards of 25 Wyrrite and two Meteorite as crafting materials. Final Fantasy 16 is only accessible on PlayStation 5.
