Gerringothe Thorm is incredibly strong and can be a major danger to your party. She has the ability to take down your companions in one shot in some situations. If you can manage to avoid fighting her, it will not only save you time and prevent damage, but you will still be able to receive all the same rewards and experience points.

To defeat Gerringothe Thorm without fighting, you must outsmart her during a conversation. Make her feel guilty about hoarding gold and convince her to give it back, which will make her disappear. When you come across Gerringothe, she will ask for gold. Choose the option to toss her a single piece of gold. She will keep asking for more, and you will have other choices to make. Start by saying, "I don't give away gold easily."

Next, Gerringothe will say you can pass the river but still have to pay, even though you already did. You can then try to trick or persuade her into feeling guilty and rethinking her actions. Rogues and Wizards have special dialogue options that allow them to use their skills in this conversation. If your character is not one of these classes, Astarion or Gale can take their place.

If you can't talk your way past Gerringothe Thorm, get ready for a tough battle. She's tough because the damage she deals increases based on how much Gold your characters are carrying, which can lead to quick knockouts. On top of that, she has a lot of HP, so taking her down will be a challenge.

To make this fight easier for yourself, there are two things you can do. First, send any Gold your Tav and companions have to Camp before talking to Gerringothe. This will help prevent her from quickly defeating your allies.

The second tip to make this fight easier is to avoid attacking Gerringothe right away. Instead, focus on defeating all the floating skulls around the Tollhouse, known as Visage of Regret.

Defeating each Visage of Regret will lower Gerringothe's maximum HP, making it much easier to defeat her in battle. Once all the Visages are gone, taking down Gerringothe should only take one to three more turns, especially if your whole party focuses on her.

After defeating Gerringothe Thorm, all that will remain is her empty gold-plated suit of armor, which you can now loot. Inside, you will find the Twist of Fortune Morningstar, a powerful weapon that you can add to your character's arsenal.

The Twist of Fortune Morningstar was Gerringothe's signature weapon, allowing you to deal extra damage based on the amount of gold an enemy possesses. This unique ability makes the Twist of Fortune Morningstar one of the top Morningstars in the game, making it a valuable choice for melee-focused character builds like Paladins, Barbarians, or Fighters.
