In Baldur's Gate 3, the structure closely mirrors that of its tabletop RPG counterpart, Dungeons & Dragons, where players have proficiency in specific skills. These skills are utilized in combat as well as in dialogue interactions with non-player characters (NPCs).

Out of the eighteen available skills, each character can only excel in a small number.
