Each class is accompanied by their own unique benefits and effects.
Baldur's Gate 3, released in 2023, stands out as one of the top RPGs. Its exceptional cast of companions brings their unique personalities and quests that seamlessly intertwine with the main storyline. Additionally, players have the opportunity to choose from twelve diverse classes, allowing for intriguing combat scenarios through multiclassing.
Each class specializes in specific armor and weaponry, prompting players to search for gear that complements their chosen build. It is important to note that certain combinations of armor can yield greater rewards, thus players may need to experiment and discover the ideal gear that suits their playstyle.
8 Rage And Wrath
Bonespike Helmet – Purchased from the Voiceless Penitent Bereki in Lower City Sewers
Bloodguzzler Garb – Found on a Duergar in the Underdark
Bonespike Gloves – Found on Strangler Luke in the Undercity Ruins
Linebreaker Boots – Found in Worg Pen in the Shattered Sanctum or Beastmaster Zurk
Players often struggle to find the perfect gear for their Barbarians, especially when relying on their unarmored defense. Fortunately, the following four pieces of gear can be considered as clothing, eliminating the need for armor proficiency.
Equipping gear such as the Bloodguzzler Garb and Linebreaker Boots grants the player the Wrath feature, increasing the Barbarian's melee damage by one. This allows them to inflict even more damage on nearby foes. When paired with the Bonespike Gloves, these attacks can also harm enemies who are resistant to slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage. Additionally, the Bonespike Helmet directly benefits the Barbarian during Rage, causing surrounding creatures to make a Wisdom saving throw or suffer psychic damage.
7 Supporting Clerics
Wapira’s Crown – Accept the reward from the refugees after killing the goblins in Act 1
Adamantine Scale Mail – Forged at the Grymforge
The Reviving Hands – Purchased at the Stormshore Tabernacle in the Lower City
Boots of Speed – Curing Thulla in the Underdark
Clerics are versatile frontline units, but sometimes it is more beneficial to have a dedicated support character. To enhance their supportive role, obtaining armor such as Wapira's Crown early in the game allows players to not only restore their own health but also provide healing to others. Furthermore, The Reviving Hands offer additional protection to those revived by the Clerics.
In Baldur's Gate 3, the Adamantine Scale Mail stands out as the top choice for medium armor, boasting high AC and extra advantages. Although the Boots of Speed might not appear extraordinary compared to other items, they enable the team's medic to swiftly navigate the battlefield or escape danger.
6 A Bard's Bravery
Birthright – Purchased at Sorcerous Sundries in Baldur’s Gate
Blazer of Benevolence – Rescue Volo from the Shattered Sanctum
Cerebral Citadel Gloves – Emperor’s Old Hideout
Boots of Brilliance – Found inside Gauntlet of Shar
Vivacious Cloak - Grand Mausoleum offers players the opportunity to choose the Bard class or transform a companion into one using Withers in Baldur's Gate 3. While there are numerous intriguing armor combinations suitable for this class, the Birthright option stands out as one of the finest. It may not offer anything overly exceptional, but it does have the capability to elevate the player's Charisma modifier beyond the limit of 20.
The combination's highlight lies in the Blazer of Benevolence and the Boots of Brilliance. By bestowing their Bardic Inspiration upon a comrade, the Bard gains four temporary hit points. The Boots of Brilliance enable the Bard to replenish their Bardic Inspiration even when not engaged in combat.
5 Grand Elemental Wizard
Hood of the Weave – Purchased from Mystic Carrion in Philgrave’s Mansion
Robe of Supreme Defenses – Sold by Ferg Drogher in Rivington
Gemini Gloves – Purchased from Helsik in the Devil’s Fee
Boots of Arcane Bolstering – Bought from Araj Oblodora in Moonrise Towers
Cloak of the Weave – Purchased from Helsik in the Devil’s Fee.
Wizards in Baldur's Gate 3 have no armor proficiencies, meaning they must rely on the available clothing in the game to cast spells. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of clothing items that players can explore. Some of these items, such as the Hood of the Weave or the Robe of Supreme Defenses, simply enhance a Wizard's spell save DC and attack bonus.
On the other hand, the Cloak of the Weave offers even more benefits. In addition to boosting spellcasting abilities, it allows players to use Absorb Elements once per short rest. When wearing the cloak and being attacked with elemental damage, players can choose to absorb half of the damage taken during that turn. Not only does this lessen the impact of the attack, but it also increases the damage inflicted by the Wizard using the same elemental powers.
4 A Great Defense
Helmet of Grit – Found in the Szarr Palace
Adamantine Splint Armor – Crafted in the Grymforge
Gauntlets of Surging Accuracy – Purchased from Lann Tarv From Moonrise Towers
The Speedy Lightfeet – Found in Blighted Village
Buy the Cloak of Protection from Quartermaster Talli at the Last Light Inn to enhance your capabilities. Fighters can excel both in dealing damage and protecting themselves. This build allows players to achieve the best of both aspects. Comparable to the Adamantine Scale Mail, the Adamantine Splint Armor offers similar effects but with an even higher Armor Class (AC). Moreover, by wearing the Cloak of Protection, the AC is further augmented, making it extremely difficult for opponents to land hits.
3 Powerful Ranger
The player can benefit from the enhanced accuracy provided by the Gauntlets of Surging Accuracy, which grants an additional d4 to their chance of hitting the target when they activate their Action Surge during their turn. Furthermore, in cases where the player finds themselves overwhelmed during a battle and their health drops below 50%, the Helmet of Grit offers them an additional bonus action to alleviate their pain by healing themselves.
Circlet of Hunting – Sold by Araj Oblodora in Moonrise Towers
Sharpened Snare Cuirass – Roah Moonglow in Moonrise Towers
Legacy of the Masters – Purchased from Dammon in the Lower City
The Boots of Genial Striding can be purchased from Blurg in the Underdark. As players progress through Baldur's Gate 3, they will eventually unlock the only Ranger companion available in the game. To maximize the Ranger's strength, players should collect various pieces. The Circlet of Hunting, in particular, grants the powerful spell Hunter's Mark. When a foe is marked by this spell, their attack roll is enhanced by +4 when trying to hit them.
This attack roll is further enhanced when the Legacy of Masters gauntlets are equipped, granting an additional +2 to the attack roll, regardless of whether the spell marks the target or not. In addition, by wearing a set of boots like the Genial Striding ones, players can bid farewell to any concerns about difficult terrain forever.
2 Cunning Rogue's Gear
Covert Cowl – Dropped by a Meenlock in the Cellar of Last Light Inn
Elegant Studded Leather Armor – High-Security Vault no. 9 in The Counting House
Dark Justiciar Gauntlets – Gauntlet of Shar
Disintegrating Night Walkers – Dropped by True Soul Nere in the Grymforge
Cloak of Cunning Brume – Purchased from Mattis in Last Light Inn
Rogues are expert stealthy attackers who excel at dealing significant damage when they have the upper hand. To support their advantage, careful selection of armor pieces is crucial. The Cloak of Cunning Brume offers the ability to turn invisible, enabling successful stealth attacks. To disengage safely after striking, the Disintegrating Night Walkers allow the rogue to Misty Step away.
Additionally, the Covert Cowl enhances the odds of a critical hit by reducing the threshold by one. Lastly, although seemingly uncomplicated, the main piece of Studded Leather armor increases the rogue's initiative, enabling them to get into position swiftly.
1 Masterful Monk
Mask of Soul Perception – Found in the Devil’s Fee
Vest of Soul Rejuvenation – Sorcerer’s Sundries
Gloves of Soul Catching – Save Hope during the House of Hope Quest
Helldusk Boots – Lord Enver Gortash in Upper Levels of Wyrm’s Rock Fortress
Danthelon’s Dancing Axe - a Cloak of Displacement
Monks prioritize the soul, therefore, they often opt for armor combinations with similar names. By pairing the Mask of Soul Perception, Vest of Soul Rejuvenation, and Gloves of Soul Catching, players can enhance their reaction speed, improve their accuracy, and boost the damage of their unarmed attacks.
With the Helldusk Boots and the Cloak of Displacement, players can avoid getting hit even without wearing standard armor. They can even choose to use their reaction to reroll a saving throw.
