Master the Art of Weapon Repair in Jagged Alliance 3: Essential Tips and Tricks

Jagged Alliance 3 is a captivating tactical strategy game that revolves around turn-based combat. Players are entrusted with the responsibility of leading a group of mercenaries to liberate the fictional West African nation of Grand Chien from the clutches of a tyrannical warlord. Apart from overseeing the control of territories and resources, players must also meticulously manage the diverse assortment of mercenaries during combat. The game encompasses various layers of management, all of which necessitate attention for a successful playthrough.

In addition to engaging in combat and conducting reconnaissance missions, players must also pay heed to managing the inventories and attitudes of their hired mercenaries. Over time, weapons and armor can deteriorate, resulting in costly consequences like malfunctions during critical moments. Fortunately, there are multiple means to address and counter these issues, as long as the characters possess a sufficiently high level of Mechanic skill.

Jams

While this will cost that character their turn, players can ensure this inconvenience is reduced to a single turn by immediately unjamming the weapon. In case of a jam, a cog icon will appear in the lower center of the screen, enabling players to unjam the weapon and use it again on the next turn. Similarly, players will have to manually reload the weapon, but they will still be able to use it in the same turn with reduced AP. Moreover, Mechanics can repair several mounted weapons scattered throughout the game world, allowing the team to utilize them once they are fixed and fully operational.

Repairs/Maintenance

To minimize the likelihood of gun jams, players should regularly monitor the condition of their equipment, indicated by a percentage displayed in the inventory. The condition of weapons and gear will naturally degrade over time due to usage and transport.

Maintaining weapons and gear can be done through the Operations tab on the main Satellite View. A skilled mechanic mercenary will need a few days to restore equipment to its optimum condition. While not every single weapon requires maintenance, players should prioritize their best and currently equipped gear to prevent any issues during combat. Players have the option to manually select specific items for repair, reducing the overall time needed, or let the system automatically assign the most damaged gear to the repair slots.
