Jagged Alliance 3 is an intricate strategy game where players must lead and oversee a team of hired Mercenaries as they strive to liberate the fictional West African country of Grand Chien's captured president from a ruthless warlord and his "Legion." Each Mercenary possesses distinct characteristics and abilities, fitting into various classes ranging from Marksman to Mechanic. The Doctor class is crucial and should always be a part of the squad since these characters excel at spotting Medical Herbs and possess the power to heal both themselves and their teammates.

During combat, characters will unavoidably sustain injuries, resulting in penalties to accuracy, movement, and other significant attributes. It is essential for players to regularly assess the health of their team before venturing into new territories, as the death of Mercenaries may lead to permanent loss depending on the player's settings.

Tactical View

When a squad is deployed, players can control them using the Tactical View. Initially, each phase will be in real-time, allowing players to heal their squad without using Action Points. However, the health of each Mercenary will be limited to their deployment level. For example, if a Mercenary enters a new sector with only 20% health, they cannot be fully restored to 100% without accessing the Satellite View.

To heal allies during deployment and combat, players must ensure they have enough crafted Meds made from collected Medical Herbs. This can be done through the Inventory screen by right-clicking the herbs and converting them into usable medicine. It's important to note that only Mercenaries with a sufficient skill level and equipped with crafted medicines will be able to heal themselves and their teammates.

Satellite View

In the Satellite View, players have the option to restore Mercenaries to full health. By selecting Operations, players can assign their characters to various tasks like training local militia, defending towns and diamond mines, and treating injuries. To perform the healing action, at least one Doctor class Mercenary and sufficient medical supplies are needed. If multiple Mercenaries are injured, a single assigned Doctor can only treat one patient at a time. However, multiple Doctors and Patients can be assigned, and Doctors can treat multiple wounds on a single individual if supplies are available.

It is important to note that Operations in the Satellite View take time to complete. Therefore, players should be mindful of Mercenary contracts expiring, especially if the Mercenaries are already wounded. In such cases, it may be advisable to temporarily replace them for specific missions. Additionally, if the squad faces an attack, the healing action will be interrupted and may need to be restarted. Considering fatigue is also crucial for battlefield performance. Therefore, it is recommended to ensure all Mercenaries are fully healed and rested before undertaking challenging missions as part of the preparation process.
