Players in Baldur's Gate 3 will come across their first dungeon, the Overgrown Ruins. Among the various monsters and enemies, the trap lurking behind the front door poses the greatest threat. Without proper knowledge, the entire party may face extinction.
The Sarcophagus trap is renowned for its lethal nature in Baldur's Gate 3, capable of swiftly eliminating unsuspecting players. Even if players fall victim to its fiery explosion, they may struggle to comprehend its mechanics. This guide aims to assist any party in safely looting the Sarcophagus.
Disabling The Sarcophagus Trap
Loot the room except for the Sarcophagus.
Move all but one party member to the exit toward the inside of the dungeon (not the entrance).
Have the remaining party member move an object on each of the six vents.
Enter turn-based mode.
Have the remaining party member move next to the Sarcophagus and end the turn.
Have all other party members skip their turns.
Loot the Sarcophagus with the remaining party member.
Exit toward the inside of the dungeon and rejoin the party.
To start, whether playing with friends or alone, loot all the items in the room except for the Sarcophagus. After that, have all party members except one wait by the door that leads to the next room. Avoid waiting by the front door.
Players have the option to choose various objects, including vases and crates, within the room. They can then drag these objects to cover the six vents on the floor, effectively preventing the release of gas. As a result, the fire arrows will lack a means to detonate. It is worth noting that players with lower perception levels may overlook certain plates. In such cases, please refer to the following picture.
Finally, activate turn-based mode and instruct the other party members to skip their turns. Direct one party member to move to the front of the Sarcophagus for an effortless escape. Take a turn off before looting the Sarcophagus to avoid being targeted by fire arrows. Once the turn is over, gather the loot and swiftly proceed. If the gear is overwhelming, transfer heavy items to the Traveller's Chest to maintain a high speed.
That concludes the process. Fire arrows are now consistently shot across the room, but there are two additional exits within the dungeon. If it is necessary, players can reactivate turn-based mode and cautiously return to the entrance by traversing the room.
