In New York City, Jonathan Majors was arrested on March 25 following a 911 call made to the police. According to the NYPD, a 30-year-old woman reported being assaulted by Majors and sustained minor injuries to her head and neck. Priya Chaudhry, the actor's criminal defense lawyer, has firmly denied any wrongdoing on his behalf. Majors is currently facing charges of assault and aggravated harassment, both classified as misdemeanors, with a scheduled trial date for August 3rd.

Following the arrest, Majors' presence was removed from recruitment advertisements by the U.S. Army and he was no longer featured in ads for the Texas Rangers. His management company and PR firm also dropped him. In recent developments, Majors was removed from two projects: The Man in My Basement, a movie starring Willem Dafoe, and an Otis Redding biopic that he was associated with. As of an Apr. 18 report, Marvel Studios had not discussed replacing Majors in the role of Kang in the MCU.

The outcome of Majors' trial will determine his future in both the MCU and Hollywood as a whole. While Marvel is reportedly downplaying Majors' involvement in Loki season 2, the show was already completed before his arrest, making changes unlikely. However, the release of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has been postponed to 2026, allowing Marvel Studios time to make adjustments to the cast or storyline if Majors is found guilty. Currently, the future of Majors' involvement in the MCU is uncertain, and it would not be surprising if other Marvel actors refrain from commenting on the situation or provide vague responses similar to Mackie's.
