Lauren Goodger and Michael Shiakallis from Married at First Sight season 17 have heard that some fans believe they should have been matched together.
In a sneak peek of the episode airing on Wednesday, April 24, Lauren and Michael chat with their co-star Clare Kerr.
When Clare asks Lauren and Michael if they are seeing anyone new after breaking up with Orion Martzloff and Chloe Brown, Michael jokingly suggests that she is asking if they are dating each other.
He then teases Lauren about how their friends often joke about them being a perfect match. Michael mentions that people on the internet have been rooting for them to be together and his friends always ask why they weren't matched with Lauren in the first place.
Lauren then admits that she’s heard similar comments from her loved ones.

Lauren Goodger and Orion Martzloff were featured on Lifetime/YouTube.
"My family, especially in the earlier episodes when there was a lot of matchmaking happening, would ask me, 'Why wasn't Michael your match?' Some family members even said, 'I think objectively speaking, Michael should have been your match,'" Lauren shared.
Lauren and Michael realized they might be compatible after going through failed relationships on Married at First Sight. Lauren quickly married Orion on the show, but just two weeks later, they were already divorced. Things got heated between them in a November 2023 episode when Orion said he didn't want to have sex, leading to a tense argument. Lauren felt judged by Orion's comment about her sex life.
Michael's first match stood him up at the altar, leaving him disappointed. He was then paired with Chloe, but he faced commitment issues and ultimately decided to divorce her. Recently, Michael has been receiving backlash online for his choice. He took to his Instagram Story to address this situation earlier this month.
In his post, Michael mentioned that he can't say much until after the reunion episode airs. However, he expressed gratitude towards those who offered kind words and understanding towards those who did not.
Lauren also faced hate from MAFS fans on social media. In March, she decided to respond to internet trolls on Instagram. She called out those who kept watching the show despite their complaints.
"Every week, I see the same comments. Why are you all still watching? It's sunny outside, but instead of getting some Vitamin D, you choose to watch a heavily edited TV show. I had to film for a reason, but I don't understand why you continue to watch while complaining," she wrote.
Lauren shared that she initially believed Married at First Sight (MAFS) would be a thrilling way to kick off a love story, but she was caught off guard by the contractual obligations.
The season 17 reunion special of Married at First Sight, titled Where Are They Now: To Hurt or to Heal, will be shown on Lifetime this Wednesday, April 24, at 8 p.m. ET.
