At the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, Mariah Carey was honored with the Chart Achievement Award by her 12-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. The 54-year-old singer also made her debut performance of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" at the awards show. With choreography by Debbie Allen, a captivating winter wonderland was created with skaters dancing around Carey as she delivered her iconic hit. Monroe and Moroccan remained to the side during the performance but took the spotlight when they presented their mother with the coveted gold statue.

"Congratulations, Mom!" they both exclaimed, offering her the prestigious trophy.

"Thank you, my little ones," she expressed graciously. "I am incredibly grateful for Roc and Roe's exceptional presentation skills. Thank you, my darlings."

During her acceptance speech, the singer, who co-parents her children with ex-husband Nick Cannon, expressed her deep connection to Billboard, emphasizing its significance in her career. She noted that although she tends to disregard the concept of time, she couldn't deny that some of her most memorable moments in her career are linked to Billboard and the BBMAs. Additionally, she expressed her gratitude towards her fans for their unwavering support, whether it be during her successful hits or lesser-known tracks that didn't reach the same level of popularity.

The award recognizes her iconic Christmas jingle, which has consistently reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 every year since 2019. This achievement is especially remarkable considering that the song was originally released in 1994.

"I am incredibly grateful for this award as the song itself has transformed my life. When I initially sat down to compose 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' I could never have envisioned that just three months later, I would be here accepting a special accolade for it," she amusingly remarked, eliciting laughter from the audience.

"Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have embraced this song as part of their holiday traditions year after year," Carey expressed. "Receiving this award for the song's success on the charts is a tremendous honor, but what truly fills me with joy is being in the presence of all of you and experiencing the love that only music can evoke."

Continuing the holiday spirit, Carey made a memorable appearance with her children at the BBMAs. Prior to this, her daughter Monroe showcased her talents during Carey's sold-out holiday concert in Los Angeles on November 17. In an impactful moment captured on social media by Kim Kardashian, they performed "Jesus Born on This Day" together and Monroe impressed with her skills during a rendition of The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping."
