Mama June Shannon Stays Strong in Daughter Anna’s Terminal Cancer Fight: Putting Faith in God

Mama June Shannon is requesting continued prayers as her daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell fights stage IV cancer.
"I'm sharing this post because many people have been reaching out to us, and I just want to update everyone on the changes in our lives that we cannot control," said Shannon, 44, in a video posted on her TikTok and Instagram on Friday, December 8. "God is in control, and despite everything, Anna is still here with us."
She stated, "During this transition, we ask for ongoing prayers for Anna and the family, and continued thoughts and gratitude even though we are unable to respond to messages." Shannon also mentioned her intention to take a break from social media until "that time does come," possibly alluding to Cardwell's potential passing.
“We will reach out to you on social media because Anna wouldn't have it any other way," Mama June promised. "But we love you guys and I ask that you continue to pray for us as a family."
In March, news surfaced that Cardwell, one of Shannon's four daughters, had been diagnosed with an adrenal carcinoma three months earlier. She has since undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

Shannon revealed to We in May that this round of chemo has been different. "She's sleeping more. It was really tough this time," Shannon said. "I can only imagine how my daughter must be feeling, having to live with it day in and day out, if I'm feeling this way as her mom."
She added that she and husband Justin Stroud, who she married in 2022, have been by Cardwell's bedside during the health scare, along with her other daughters. “The only people here are me, Justin, Pumpkin, Alana, her boyfriend, and Jessica,” Mama June said. “No one else is here for Anna, no one else goes to treatment, no one else goes to her house.”

Cardwell's two daughters, Kaitlyn and Kylee, have been making an effort to spend more time with their mother. Mama June spoke to Us and shared that 11-year-old Kaitlyn is now "more clingy" while 8-year-old Kylee is "still too young to fully understand what's happening." (Anna co-parents her kids with her ex-husband Michael Cardwell.)
By July, Cardwell received a terminal diagnosis. Mama June told Entertainment Tonight at the time that her eldest daughter isn’t “gonna go into remission.”
