Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell and her boyfriend Eldridge Toney were married before her passing. Cardwell, the eldest daughter of Mama June Shannon, and Toney exchanged vows in March, with the ceremony officiated by Cardwell's sister Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird's husband. TMZ was the first to report this news.
Cardwell and Toney started dating in 2019, shortly after she had separated from her ex-husband Michael Cardwell. Two months after Anna was diagnosed with stage IV adrenal carcinoma in January, the couple got married. She had been complaining of severe stomach aches before her diagnosis. Anna underwent her first round of chemotherapy the following month. In May, Shannon, 44, provided an update to Us on how her daughter was doing with her treatments.
"This round of chemo has been quite different," she told Us exclusively. "She's been sleeping more. It's been a tough one."
Two months later, Shannon disclosed that her daughter's condition was terminal. "She's not going to go into remission," Shannon told Entertainment Tonight in May. "We've all come to accept that, so I just take it one day at a time because you never know."

Anna's younger sister, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, honored her late sister after hearing about her passing.
"This is a post I never wanted to write," Thompson, who is 18, shared on Instagram on Sunday, December 10. "Last night, we all gathered around Anna with love and reassured her that it was okay to go. Sadly, around 11 pm, Anna took her final breath."

Sarah Jones reported that the speaker expressed, "Anna was in a lot of pain last night, but now, as a family, we all know she is at peace. I'm at a loss for words as my heart is shattered. Watching my 29-year-old sister battle this terrible disease this past year has been difficult. Anna was a fighter and still is."
