The latest round of Squid Game has concluded, with Mai Whelan (287) taking home $4.56 million. However, there is speculation about whether she shared her winnings with Phill or any other contestant. Forming alliances and making friends may seem beneficial, but in the end, everyone in Squid Game must compete against each other.
456 contestants were narrowed down to three in the previous episode: Mai, Phill (451), and Sam (016), who all appeared to have mutual respect and likings for each other. Following an exquisite meal, they participated in a button-pressing challenge that eventually led to Mai and Phill being the last two contestants standing to compete in the ultimate game: rock paper scissors. After numerous rounds and keys, Mai managed to unlock the safe and emerged as the winner. Now, as Mai has her sights set on big plans for the prize money, there is curiosity about whether she shared any of it with Phill, Sam, or anyone else.
Did Mai share the money with Phill after Squid Game: The Challenge?
Mai hasn’t disclosed if she’s split or plans to share any of her Squid Game winnings with Phill or any of the other contestants.
She still hasn't received any of the money, prompting her to reference Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire by saying "Show me the money." Despite hopes from viewers and other players that she would share the winnings, Mai may not receive the money all at once and may be prohibited from sharing it with other contestants.
In an interview with EW, Phill appears to have accepted his loss gracefully. "It has made me realize what truly matters and what is worth fighting for. I don't need to have millions of dollars to pursue my passions," he explained.
"I have a deep love for music, and after getting out, I was able to reunite my college band. We go by the name Six Ways to Saturday, and we are releasing a new single today."
He would definitely do it all over again for another chance at the huge prize. "I think I owe it to myself to give it another shot! Maybe I'll try one more time. But if I fail in Red Light, Green Light, that might be the end for me. I'm not sure if I can go through that again," he admitted.

As a Gen Z netizen, I have mixed feelings about the outcome of Squid Game: The Challenge. On the one hand, I am thrilled that Mai Whelan emerged as the victorious winner and claimed the staggering $456 million prize. Her determination, resilience, and strategic thinking throughout the competition were truly remarkable, and I genuinely believe she deserved to win.
On the other hand, I can't help but feel a sense of disappointment regarding the lack of information about whether she shared her winnings with Phill or any other contestant. The show emphasized the importance of forming alliances and friendships, and it would have been heartwarming to see Mai acknowledge and reward the support she received from her fellow contestants. While I understand that the competition ultimately pits everyone against each other, a gesture of generosity and gratitude would have gone a long way in demonstrating the spirit of camaraderie that seemed to develop among the players.
