Madonna's celebrity friends are showing their support as she recovers from her recent hospitalization. Rosie O'Donnell, who starred alongside the 64-year-old Queen of Pop in "A League of Their Own," shared a photo of the two friends on Instagram with a caption stating, "She's feeling good." O'Donnell, 61, expressed her love and support with a thumbs-up emoji and a "Love" hashtag.
The comedian's update followed the news that Madonna had been hospitalized recently. Madonna's longtime manager, Guy Oseary, stated on Instagram that she had developed a severe bacterial infection on Saturday, June 24, leading to a stay in the ICU. He mentioned that her health is improving but she is still receiving medical care, and a full recovery is anticipated.
Madonna's manager, Oseary, announced that she will temporarily put all her commitments on hold while she recovers. This includes her upcoming tour, Madonna: The Celebration, which was originally set to begin on Saturday, July 15.
Following the news of her hospitalization, a number of famous fans, such as Zooey Deschanel, Rita Wilson, Gwendoline Christie, and Isla Fisher, expressed their well-wishes for a speedy recovery. Fisher, 47, commented on Oseary's post, sending love from both her and her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen.
Expressing her support, Kathy Griffin called out online haters who were mocking Madonna's illness. In a TikTok video on Wednesday, Griffin, 62, stated that she didn't know what was happening with Madonna but wanted to defend her. Despite never having met her, Griffin acknowledged Madonna's contribution to the world through decades of music, entertainment, Evita, and film performances. She expressed her dislike towards people who were already making fun of Madonna's illness without knowing the full details.
The Emmy-winning entertainer wanted to be candid with her followers, stating that she believes these remarks may stem from ageism and misogyny in Hollywood. Griffin, who publicly revealed her lung cancer diagnosis in 2021, expressed that as a 62-year-old woman, she frequently encounters these issues—and Madonna, being an iconic figure, is no exception. Griffin expressed her concern for Madonna's well-being instead of focusing on her appearance, acknowledging that fillers can come and go, but health is paramount. She expressed her happiness that Madonna is able to resume her tour, which features her greatest hits and is expected to be phenomenal.
Confirmation from Us was received on Wednesday evening that Madonna has been moved out of the intensive care unit as she continues to recover. On Thursday, CNN reported that the pop star has been discharged from the hospital and returned to her home in New York City.
