Prime Video's highly anticipated fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, has managed to escape potential delays caused by the imminent SAG-AFTRA strike. Despite facing multiple challenges like an on-set fire, a horse fatality, and the ongoing WGA strike, the show successfully completed filming several weeks ago. Adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novels, the series received positive reviews from critics but received a more mixed response from audiences upon its premiere on Prime Video last summer.

Amazon has made a substantial investment in The Rings of Power, acquiring the rights to Tolkien's work for a staggering $250 million. The production of the show is also a significant undertaking. The creators, Payne and McKay, have already mapped out the entire storyline, spanning five seasons. While season 1 followed in the footsteps of Peter Jackson's acclaimed Lord of the Rings trilogy and was filmed in New Zealand, season 2 is set to take place in the U.K.

Principal photography for The Rings of Power season 2 commenced in September of the previous year. In a recent update, it was revealed that Joseph Mawle, who portrayed Adar, will not be returning for the upcoming season, and Sam Hazeldine will be taking on the role instead. Additionally, prominent actors Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, and Tanya Moodie have been announced to join the show in undisclosed roles.

In the same month, a horse on the set of The Rings of Power season 2 passed away due to heart failure. Additionally, an on-set warehouse experienced a fire incident in April. Following this, Payne and McKay had to be absent from the show's set due to the onset of the WGA strike in May. However, there is finally some positive news for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power.
