Lisa Vanderpump Shares Insights on Her Absence from Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix's Event (Exclusive)

Lisa Vanderpump couldn't make it to the Something About Her opening, but she is cheering for Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix.

"I've been traveling a lot lately. I've been to Lake Tahoe, Vegas, and New York," Vanderpump, 63, told We exclusively on Monday, May 20. She explained that her absence at the sandwich shop's soft opening in Los Angeles was due to her recent trips. "I just got back from New York two days ago. I've been all over the place."

Vanderpump thinks that Katie and Ariana should focus on getting their restaurant up and running before she visits to celebrate.

"We plan to have a soft opening at the restaurant, but we won't officially invite guests until we have been operating for about two or three weeks. This way, we can work out any kinks," the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared with Us. "I prefer not to pass judgment right now. Let's give them some time, maybe a couple of weeks or a month, to get settled. This is typically how we approach things in the restaurant industry."

Former Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder, Bravo producer Andy Cohen, and Summer House’s Lindsay Hubbard attended the soft opening on Friday, May 17, where they got to sample the sandwiches before the official store opening on Wednesday, May 22.

Lisa Vanderpump, in response, asked us if Lala Kent attended the opening event after tensions rose between Lala and Katie at the season 11 reunion.

I'm always surprised by the fast-paced nature of this group, but at the same time, nothing really shocks me anymore," Vanderpump shared with Us Weekly regarding Lala's absence last week. "Some people here are quick to take sides, but that's just not my style."

One of the issues causing tension between Lala and Katie was Lala's belief that Katie, along with other cast members, was unhappy with Ariana during the season but chose not to voice their opinions because Ariana was a "fan-favorite."

Looking back, Vanderpump shared with Us on Monday that she believes Ariana's decision to live in the same house as her ex Tom Sandoval, but not film individual scenes with him, following his 2023 cheating scandal caused issues within the group.

Vanderpump explained, "While she was living in the same house, I think, it’d be almost, like, [That’s] ridiculous." She added, “I think that’s some of the things that the young women called out, saying, ‘Well, hold on a second. I can’t be friends with him, but yet you are living in the same house?’ I think that was the thing that people were struggling with.”

Bravo has decided not to film season 12 of the show during the summer months this year. This decision comes after the drama involving Sandoval, 40, and Rachel “Raquel” Leviss’ affair fallout in season 11.

Vanderpump shared with Us that they are taking a break. They need to focus on opening a new restaurant. Vanderpump mentioned that they are done discussing Scandoval/Sandoval. They feel that everyone should take a step back and let things breathe for a while.

As fans eagerly anticipate more VPR, Lisa Vanderpump is keeping busy with another reality show called Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars. She will be one of the contestants in the upcoming season 2, set to premiere on Fox on Wednesday, May 22.

Lisa shared that when Gordon Ramsay first approached her about joining the show, they had a playful yet competitive relationship due to owning restaurants opposite each other. She found the concept of the reality series intriguing for various reasons, such as exploring the emotional dynamics among contestants, strategic business decisions, challenging obstacles, visiting iconic locations, and observing how both Gordon and herself would interact.

Vanderpump pointed out that Ramsay, who is 57 years old, is accustomed to being in charge of everything he does. Now, with both of them as bosses, clashes are bound to happen. However, it's all due to their mutual respect for each other.

She acknowledged Ramsay's remarkable achievements in life but also mentioned the challenge of keeping him in check and quiet at times. "It was quite a task, let me tell you," she joked.

Part 2 of the Vanderpump Rules season 11 reunion will be shown on Bravo this Tuesday, May 21, at 8 p.m. ET. Additionally, season 2 of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars is set to premiere on Fox the following day, Wednesday, May 22, at 9 p.m. ET.
