Bronny James returned to the basketball court triumphantly four months after experiencing a cardiac arrest, with his father LeBron James in attendance to cheer him on.
"I can't even express how emotional today was for me," LeBron, 38, remarked in the captions of Instagram pictures and videos from Bronny's University of Southern California basketball game on Sunday, December 10. "I'm completely drained and all I can say is @bronny you're absolutely incredible!"
LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers star, sat courtside with his mother Gloria James and 9-year-old daughter Zhuri as they watched the USC Trojans play against the Long Beach State 49ers. Despite the Trojans' loss, LeBron expressed his pride in his son Bronny, writing that he had already achieved the ultimate championship in life. During a post-game press conference, Bronny expressed his gratitude for his family, the Mayo Clinic, his coaches, and teammates for their support during a challenging time in his life.
In July, Bronny was hospitalized after experiencing cardiac arrest during a USC basketball workout. A spokesperson for the James family confirmed that medical staff treated him and transported him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and has been discharged from the ICU. The family later disclosed that Bronny's cardiac arrest was due to a significant Congenital Heart Defect, which is treatable.

During his recuperation, Bronny was unable to attend the team's initial practice for the season. "Bronny is progressing nicely," Enfield, 54, informed reporters in September. "However, we are unable to provide any medical updates. He is attending classes and excelling in his studies, and we are thrilled for him." Bronny received medical clearance to resume playing last month.

Before joining the USC Trojans, Bronny had already established himself in the basketball world. He participated in the McDonald's 2023 All-American Game earlier this year, showcasing his talent among other top U.S. high school basketball players. In May, he declared his commitment to USC and a month later, it was revealed that he would be wearing the No. 6 on his jersey as a tribute to LeBron's iconic number throughout his career.
