Lana Del Rey was all set for the Met Gala, except for one unexpected question about Taylor Swift.

The 38-year-old singer arrived at the event on Monday, May 6, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City wearing an Alexander McQueen outfit that featured tree branches and a sheer hood, giving off a Mother Nature meets haute couture vibe. As she entered the museum, Entertainment Tonight approached her for a quick chat and asked for her thoughts on Swift's The Tortured Poets Department.

Del Rey expressed her admiration for Swift's record-breaking album, calling it beautiful. When asked about her favorite song from the album, Del Rey took a moment to recall. "It's the one, uh - 'Who's Afraid of Little Old Me.' Whatever that title was," she mentioned.

While Del Rey did manage to get the title right - "Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me?" - her response caused a stir among fans online. "Her ass did not listen to that album," tweeted user @HoneyMounz along with the clip. Another user joked, "Me when one of my screenwriter friends asks me what my favorite script of theirs is, but I skimmed." One more fan added, "Diva was struggling to remember a single track name."

Some fans found humor in Del Rey's response online, but others stood up for her, suggesting that the interviewer should have shifted the spotlight from Swift, 34, to Del Rey's own achievements. "Let's not forget, she's about to release a new album and recently headlined Coachella. Why aren't we discussing more relevant topics?" a fan voiced on X.

Some users made fun of the interviewer for suggesting a collaboration between Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift, not realizing that they had already collaborated on "Snow on the Beach" from the 2022 album Midnights. Swift even released a version on the Til Dawn edition of the album that featured more of Lana Del Rey, after fans expressed disappointment in the original version.

Fans also expressed their frustration online about the interviewer not asking Lana Del Rey about her upcoming country album, Lasso. In mid-January, Del Rey hinted at a song called "Henry, Come On." Then, at the Billboard and NMPA Songwriter Awards, she announced that her 10th studio album will be released in September. This new album will come after the success of her critically acclaimed 2023 album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.

On Monday at the 2024 Met Gala, Del Rey found herself in another moment related to Swift, whether intentional or not, as she posed alongside Kim Kardashian.

In a recent release, Swift touched upon her past conflicts with the 43-year-old Kardashian. In the song "thanK you aIMee" from TTPD's The Anthology, the capitalized letters spell out Kardashian's first name. The track also delves into Swift's emotions surrounding her 2016 disagreement with Kardashian and her former spouse, Kanye West.

Lana Del Rey's candid response at the Met Gala sparked both amusement and criticism among fans. While some questioned her familiarity with Taylor Swift's album, others defended her, arguing that the interviewer should have focused on Del Rey's own accomplishments. The incident highlighted the ongoing fascination with celebrity interactions, with fans eager to dissect every detail and speculate on potential collaborations.

Del Rey's appearance at the Met Gala also brought attention to her upcoming country album, "Lasso." With hints of a new song and the announcement of a September release, fans eagerly anticipate her exploration of a new genre. Despite the spotlight on Swift-related topics, Del Rey's own musical journey deserves equal attention, showcasing her versatility and ongoing evolution as an artist.
