Lala Kent Celebrates Incredible Milestone: 5 Years Sober After Conquering Rock Bottom!

Lala Kent is commemorating a significant achievement in her journey towards sobriety. On Sunday, October 22, the 33-year-old Vanderpump Rules star took to Instagram to share a heartwarming photo of herself with her 2-year-old daughter, Ocean, as she marked 5 years of being sober. Reflecting on this special day, Lala recalls her lowest point, reliving the vivid details and the transformative moment of waking up, accepting her powerlessness, and finally seeing hope emerge after years of darkness.

Despite the challenges she has faced in the past, Kent expressed her gratitude for the present day. She made a commitment to work diligently towards maintaining her sobriety and took a moment of silence for those who are still struggling with alcoholism. Kent acknowledged and expressed love for those individuals, thanking God for her journey. In addition, she celebrated her own birthday, expressing her appreciation. Many of Kent's Bravo co-stars joined in congratulating her in the comments section, with Ariana Madix commenting on the preciousness of a picture featuring Kent and her child Ocean, and Ariana's boyfriend, Daniel Wai, congratulating her on reaching five years of sobriety.

Scheana Shay praised Kent, saying that Ocean is fortunate to have a mother like her. Stassi Schroeder and Brittany Cartwright expressed their pride in Kent's achievement. Kent made the decision to stop drinking in April 2018 following her father's death and spoke openly about her struggles that December. In an Instagram Story video, she shared that she had been sober for 60 days and credited her attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, having a sponsor, and a sober coach for her progress.

Two years later, Kent revealed to her fans that the decision to achieve sobriety was solely her own. "I took responsibility for getting sober," she communicated via Instagram. "I chose to exert great effort every day to resist the urge to drink. When I feel vulnerable, I reach out to my sponsor. I actively participate in meetings (now attending virtually) to uplift myself and remind myself of why I made this life-changing decision."

She elaborated that she frequently encounters addiction firsthand, but firmly stated that it is not her role to speak about it or pass judgment on other people's journeys. "My responsibility is to pray for them and observe a moment of silence for those who are still struggling with alcoholism," she expressed. "And when someone approaches me seeking assistance, I lend them my listening ear and share my knowledge, directing them towards the same path that was shown to me."

In October 2021, Kent marked her three-year milestone of sobriety, while rumors circulated about the deteriorating state of her relationship with then-fiancé, Randall Emmett. Showing his support, the 52-year-old film producer congratulated Kent through his Instagram Story, stating, "Congrats on 3 years."

A month later, it was confirmed that the couple, who had welcomed their child, Ocean, in March 2021, had ended their relationship amidst speculation of infidelity on Emmett's part. Emmett faced further troubles in June 2022 when he was accused of sexual misconduct, mistreatment of assistants, engaging in trading sex for movie roles, owing millions of dollars in debt, and more. These allegations were brought to light in an exposé by the Los Angeles Times. Emmett vehemently denies all accusations made against him.

Kent claimed that Emmett was dissatisfied with how her sobriety had affected their sexual relationship. During a March episode of Pump Rules, she revealed, "I haven't engaged in sexual activity with a new partner in years. I haven't had sex since I became pregnant with Ocean in 2020." Kent acknowledged that their sex life had significantly declined since she got sober. According to her, Randall had commented to her assistant, saying, "Lala used to be adventurous, fun, and seductive, but then she got sober." Kent stated that her only intimate partner had been herself and a vibrator. Allegedly, she further expressed that she had not experienced a genuine orgasm, unfeigned, since 2016. She reminisced about the past version of herself, calling her "Old school Lala," who lived in the moment solely for her sexual pleasure. She contrasted that with her current self, claiming that she had awakened from her slumber.
