Hallmark queen Lacey Chabert is adding to her holiday movie collection with a new film on Netflix.
Chabert, 41, will be the lead in the Christmas romantic comedy Hot Frosty. The movie will be part of Netflix's holiday lineup for 2024, along with Lindsay Lohan's Our Little Secret and Christina Milian's Meet Me Next Christmas. In this film, Chabert plays Cathy, a widow who magically brings a snowman to life two years after her husband passed away.
The official logline states that the snowman's innocence helps Cathy to rediscover laughter, joy, and love just in time for the holidays, before he melts.
The movie also stars Dustin Milligan, Chrishell Stause, Joe Lo Truglio, Craig Robinson, Katy Mixon, and Lauren Holly. Jerry Ciccoritti will direct the film, written by Russell Hainline.
Chabert shared the exciting news on Instagram on Monday, May 13, expressing her joy in working with an amazing cast, director, and producers.
Her costar Strause, 42, also joined in the excitement by commenting on the post, expressing her admiration for Chabert and hoping to work together again in the future. Chabert graciously responded, expressing her own delight in meeting and working with Strause.
Chabert’s move to Netflix does not mean she is leaving her Hallmark roots behind. She has appeared in over 25 films for the network and will continue to do so. This year, she will star in The Christmas Quest with Kristoffer Polaha for Hallmark's holiday lineup. Additionally, Chabert will be hosting the unscripted series Celebrations with Lacey Chabert, where she and her team organize surprise parties for community heroes.
In addition to acting, Chabert will also be an executive producer for the project. The series is scheduled to have 10 episodes and will be available on Hallmark's streaming platform, Hallmark Movies Now, in late 2024.
Chabert shared with We in October 2021 how much Hallmark movies mean to her. She emphasized that her partnership with the network is more than just a job to her. Chabert feels a sense of duty to deliver the best possible movie to the audience.
The actress mentioned that she strives to exceed expectations with each project in order to keep fans engaged. She expressed that being invited into someone's living room for a couple of hours is a privilege. Chabert aims to leave viewers with a positive and uplifting experience.
While Chabert is mostly known for her wholesome roles nowadays, she has also appeared in some edgier comedies, such as playing Gretchen Weiner in the 2004 film Mean Girls. Last year, she had a reunion with her Mean Girls costars Lindsay Lohan, 37, and Amanda Seyfried for a nostalgic Walmart ad, where they brought back their characters for the store's Black Friday promotions.
In a statement, Chabert expressed her joy in reuniting with Amanda and Lindsay, saying, "It was a wonderful day spent together. It was so much fun to look back on old times and be reunited after all these years."
