During the most recent episode of Sister Wives, Kody Brown discussed his complicated feelings towards his relationship with Janelle Brown. After a visit to Janelle's new apartment, he opened up about his attempt to reconcile with her. He shared his frustration, stating, "I asked Janelle once, 'Why can't we reconcile? Let's try and work things out. What's stopping us?'" Kody then revealed that Janelle's response was disheartening, as she expressed her disinterest in being involved with his other wives, Robyn and Meri. He emphasized the sadness he felt because this goes against the agreement they made regarding their plural marriage.

Tensions have been mounting between the 54-year-old couple, Kody and Janelle, in season 18. Their explosive argument, where they both accused each other of "gaslighting," was broadcasted in September, leaving their relationship uncertain.

Speaking on Sunday, Kody expressed his sadness over how his marriage with Janelle has unraveled over time. He admitted that he is unable to mend the broken pieces, but he plans to approach Janelle again in the following week to explore the possibility of reconciliation. Each time he does, however, it becomes increasingly painful as Janelle continually rejects the idea. Perhaps it's time for him to approach it more seriously, but the outcome remains the same.

During her own interview, Janelle openly admitted that she lacked interest in cultivating a bond with sister wives Meri Brown and Robyn Brown. Janelle expressed her belief that Kody's expectation for her to reconcile with Meri and Robyn was simply a means to justify his own actions. Janelle questioned the rationale behind rekindling a relationship with Kody, placing blame on him for the deteriorated connection with Meri and prioritizing the protection of Robyn. It is worth noting that Christine Brown, Kody's third wife, departed from the family towards the end of 2021.

According to Janelle, Kody has not clearly expressed his desire to reconcile their marriage. She claims that he has never approached her to say, "I love you. I miss you. I want us to get back together." Instead, his focus is always on wanting to reunite the family so that his life can return to normal. Janelle has reached her limit and is no longer interested in that.

Janelle became a part of Kody's plural family in 1993, three years after he married Meri. Christine entered a spiritual relationship with Kody in 1994, followed by Robyn in 2010. In 2014, Kody made a significant change in the family's dynamic by legally divorcing Meri and marrying Robyn in order to adopt her children from a previous marriage. (Kody is the father of 18 children with his four spouses.)

Kody and Meri ended their spiritual union earlier this year, while Janelle disclosed in December 2022 that she and Kody had been separated for months. In a recent exclusive interview with We, Kody discussed the state of his fractured family and provided an update on his relationship with Janelle after the split.

Kody mentioned that he often communicates with Janelle regarding their situation, questioning if they can reconcile. However, he has noticed that Janelle does not seem interested in reconciling. Kody believes that time can alter circumstances and if they approach the situation with compassion and forgiveness, they may ultimately discover love, even if they choose not to remain married. Sister Wives can be watched on TLC on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
