King Charles III, at the age of 75, continues to fulfill his royal obligations even as he undergoes cancer treatment. Recently, he met with the high commissioner of Jamaica, Alexander Williams, and his wife, Carol Watson-Williams, at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, March 7.
The monarch greeted the couple in one of the reception rooms of the palace, wearing a tailored gray suit and shaking their hands. Charles, who is the head of the Commonwealth, holds the title of sovereign of Jamaica. However, the government of Jamaica has recently been working on drafting constitutional reform legislation to remove him as the head of state and transition the country into a republic.
This meeting took place two months after Buckingham Palace confirmed in January that Charles had been diagnosed with "a form of cancer" following a routine procedure for an enlarged prostate. Although further details have not been disclosed, royal expert Omid Scobie later clarified that Charles does not have prostate cancer.
Charles recently opened up about his diagnosis and expressed his gratitude for the support he has received.
In a statement released in February, Charles said, "I want to thank everyone for their messages of support and well wishes. The kind thoughts and encouragement mean a lot to me, especially during this time."
He then added, "I am glad to see that by sharing my own diagnosis, I have been able to increase awareness and highlight the crucial work of organizations that assist cancer patients and their families in the U.K. and beyond. My respect for their unwavering commitment has grown even more after going through my own journey."

Prince William, 41, and Prince Harry, 39, sons of King Charles III, have been by their father's side during his medical scare. Charles shared William and Harry with his late ex-wife Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997.
Harry recently visited his father in the UK after living in California with Meghan Markle since stepping down as senior royals in 2020. In a Good Morning America interview, he expressed his love for his family and gratitude for the opportunity to spend time with his father. Harry mentioned that he quickly jumped on a plane to see him as soon as he could.
Harry also mentioned that he intends to visit Charles as frequently as possible while he undergoes treatment.
"I have some upcoming trips that will bring me to the U.K., or back to the U.K.," he shared with GMA. "Therefore, I will make sure to drop by and spend time with my family whenever my schedule allows."
