Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s rocky road to coparenting included concerns about their male nanny.
Kim Kardashian, 42, opened up about her decision to hire a male nanny during the latest episode of The Kardashians. She explained that she wanted to have a male figure in their lives who could take the children to their various sports activities. The reality star shares four children, daughters North (10) and Chicago (5), and sons Saint (7) and Psalm (4), with her ex-husband Kanye.
Kim expressed her apprehension about broaching the subject, stating, "I was absolutely terrified to inform their father about it."
Notwithstanding her worries, the initial interaction between the nanny and Kanye, aged 46, proceeded smoothly.
Kim shared that during a visit where Kanye was dropping off the kids, he warmly introduced himself and engaged in a game of soccer with Saint and their son. She appreciated his kindness towards their child and recalled him mentioning, "If you're going to be involved in raising my son..." Kanye also provided some guidance to the nanny, advising her not to hand the ball to Saint too easily and emphasizing his preferences regarding certain rules. Prior to this, Kim had already discussed her parenting style concerning their children on the Hulu reality series.
"I have a tendency to select and opt for specific occasions - I frequently go on family vacations. However, I ensure that each of my children accompanies me on at least one trip every year," she mentioned in an episode in November 2022. "This also allows me to demonstrate to my daughter the efforts I put into my work. There is a whole business aspect to it, so I want her to see that I still enjoy it. Work can be enjoyable."
Kim further stated, "I had a strong desire to bring North on this trip because I genuinely love what I do. I want my children to develop a genuine passion for their pursuits and discover how to turn them into successful ventures."
Kanye acknowledged Kim as the main caregiver for their children, and even now, he continues to offer her advice for the benefit of their kids. In a podcast interview on "Alo Mind Full" a month ago, the rapper stated, "She's still responsible for raising those children around 80% of the time." Despite their public disagreements, Kanye feels the need to contribute his perspective to their parenting approach.
