Kevin Hart stars in a new Netflix movie, but it has received a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score. The viewership on Netflix and critical acclaim don't always align, as we've seen many movies and shows with low scores climb the top 10 chart and remain popular for weeks despite poor box office results.
Recent examples of films include Taylor Sheridan's Those Who Wish Me Dead, the "worst" Suicide Squad movie, Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl in Killers, the Bill Burr comedy Old Dads, and Samuel L. Jackson in Lakeview Terrace. With a new film featuring Kevin Hart in an exceptional ensemble cast now available on Netflix, it is expected to climb the charts in the coming days. However, this does not always guarantee positive reviews.
Kevin Hart’s new Netflix movie debuts to shocking Rotten Tomatoes score
Lift, a new Netflix heist movie directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Kevin Hart, has debuted to a rather measly 36% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.
The critics' dissatisfaction with Lift is evident in the reviews. Kenneth Seward Jr of IGN describes the film as lacking heart and excitement, criticizing the actors and the heist sequences for being unimpressive. Meanwhile, Erick Massoto of Collider sees the film as a disappointment, failing as both a comedy and an action film and lacking the unpredictability necessary for a heist movie.
Dexerto's review noted the "formulaic approach" of the film Lift, stating that it offers nothing particularly new or noteworthy. However, Andrew Parker from The Gate disagrees, suggesting that while the film may not be original, it still offers an enjoyable and familiar experience.
Curious about what Lift is? Here's the official synopsis: "In the latest film from director F. Gary Gray, a group of skilled criminals led by Cyrus Whitaker (Kevin Hart) is hired to pull off their specialty – stealing $500 million in gold from a passenger plane – but they must pull off the heist during the middle of the flight at 40,000 feet!"

As a Gen Z fan, I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting movies to watch. When I heard about Kevin Hart's latest Netflix film, I was thrilled. I'm a big fan of his comedy, and I was eager to see what he would bring to the heist genre. However, I was disappointed to learn that the film received a shockingly low Rotten Tomatoes score.
I decided to watch the movie for myself to see if it was as bad as the critics said. Unfortunately, I have to agree with them. The movie was a letdown. The plot was predictable, the acting was uninspired, and the heist sequences were unimpressive. I found myself bored and unengaged throughout most of the film.
