Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes prioritize their hearts as they navigate significant milestones in their relationship. An insider exclusively reveals in the latest issue of We that the couple's romance flourishes due to their enjoyable time together. They effortlessly maintain a drama-free dynamic and are comfortable being their authentic selves.
But, despite being in a "serious" relationship, the country star, 29, and Stokes, 30, are not considering settling down or taking the next big step at the moment, according to a source. "They don't have any immediate plans to get engaged," the insider explains. Recently, Ballerini, who started dating Stokes in January following her separation from ex-husband Morgan Evans, openly expressed feeling "secure" in her six-month relationship with the Outer Banks star and attributed her newfound happiness to him.
"I want to share something that we've all agreed on, and everyone has their own perspective on it. When you're with someone who makes you feel safe and proud, why not open up about it?" she enthusiastically shared with StyleCaster in a recent interview. "He's also a Virgo; we're like Labrador Retrievers in human form. We don't need much conversation to understand each other. It's only been six months, but it's been amazing."
Ballerini admitted that while she's been in the public eye for years because of her music career, the increased interest in her personal life has been a new challenge. "I'm giving myself a lot of patience," she revealed to the outlet, jokingly referring to the past year as a "messy situation."
Ballerini and Evans, aged 38, ended their marriage in August 2022 after being together for five years. They finalized their divorce three months later, as confirmed by Us. Despite their past romance, the former couple has used their music to reflect on their relationship and the reasons for its demise. In October 2022, Evans penned the breakup anthem "Over for You," while Ballerini responded with a six-song EP titled "Rolling Up the Welcome Mat," released on Valentine's Day of the same year.
Despite her new music calling back to her previous relationship, Ballerini has only grown closer to Stokes as she’s continued traveling the country on her Heartfirst Tour.

In June, Stokes expressed agreement with his girlfriend's view on their strong connection. "I'm fine with that title," he shared with Entertainment Tonight, referring to being referred to as Ballerini's "Golden Retriever" boyfriend by their fans. He mentioned that his dog, Milo, is a mix of Golden Retriever and German Shepherd.
Stokes gushed about Ballerini, hailing her as the most amazing person on Earth and incredibly talented. He went on to express his admiration for her music and how she has been shining lately, describing it as a beautiful sight.
In a recent incident, the actor surprised Ballerini during one of her concerts. This prompted the singer to momentarily pause her heartfelt ballad "Penthouse," which narrates her deteriorating relationship with Evans, and rush off stage to plant a passionate kiss on her beloved. While singing the lyrics, "I kissed someone new last night," she pointed towards Stokes.
