When AMC approached Kidman to do the commercial, it was an easy decision for the actress, according to Urban. Kidman never expected it to become such a cultural phenomenon. Screenwriter Billy Ray confirmed that a sequel is in the works after Kidman's contract with AMC was extended for a year. In an August 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Ray shared that the actress personally requested for him to write the ad.

"When Nicole initially approached me about it, I was simply doing it as a favor," he shared with the publication. "I agreed to do it for no charge, simply because I am a fan and friend of hers."

However, his agent ultimately persuaded him not to work for free, and it turned out to be a fortunate decision, considering the ad's success. "No one anticipated this," Ray remarked. "No one."

Ray expressed his excitement about the second iteration of the ad heard ‘round the world to Vanity Fair, stating, “I’m very, very excited about it. All I can tell you about it is we are not dumb enough to fly in the face of the one we’ve already done and try to top it,” he shared.
