McCabe: It's been a journey to get here
In an interview with Arsenal.com, Katie McCabe expressed her excitement about her journey in football. She acknowledged that being a young player in Ireland, one could feel like a big fish in a small pond. However, coming to Arsenal and being part of a dressing room with esteemed players such as Emma Byrne, Kelly Smith, Alex Scott, and Farah Williams was a challenging experience. With limited playing time, I relied heavily on Emma for guidance during my first year. She helped me navigate what steps to take next, how to improve my game, and even encouraged me to go out on loan. It wasn't until I returned from Glasgow, in a better mental state and with a renewed competitive spirit, that my Arsenal career truly took off.
The Scottish league concluded in November, leaving me with only two weeks at Arsenal before I potentially had the opportunity to move elsewhere. Having nothing to lose during those two weeks, I fully embraced the situation. With Joe Montemurro assuming the managerial role and my newfound position as the captain of Ireland, it was a period of transition and I wholeheartedly embraced the challenge.
