Kathy Hilton believes that her sister Kyle Richards did not make a hasty decision to separate from her husband Mauricio Umansky.

During part 2 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 reunion, which aired on Wednesday, March 6, Kathy, 64, expressed her thoughts. She mentioned that Kyle is not impulsive and does not rush into decisions. According to Kathy, Kyle had been contemplating the separation for a few years, rather than deciding on it in a short period of time.

Kathy mentioned that after their breakup, Kyle, who is 55, and Mauricio, who is 53, are focusing on their own interests. She explained that Mauricio and Kyle are going in separate directions as they try to move forward. Mauricio has been busy dancing on Dancing With the Stars for the past four months.

Kyle and Mauricio’s relationship was closely watched during season 13 of RHOBH as Kyle's friends on the show kept asking her about the issues in her marriage. Recently, it was revealed in the season finale that the couple had decided to separate after being married for 27 years. (We officially confirmed their split in July 2023.)

After wrapping up filming for the season, RHOBH, the cameras shifted focus to the second season of Buying Beverly Hills, a Netflix series that follows Umansky's real estate company, The Agency.

During a Thursday, February 29th Amazon Live event, Kyle revealed that the decision to separate happened after filming for season 13 of RHOBH was completed. The news came out and coincidentally, the Netflix cameras were rolling in Aspen at the time.

A preview for the second season of Buying Beverly Hills, set to debut on Friday, March 22, features Mauricio discussing his daughters’ separation. His daughters are Alexia (27), Sophia (23), and Portia (15), as well as his stepdaughter Farrah (35), who is shared with Richards’ ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie.

I had an incredible 26 years with your mom. I really wanted to make it work and save our relationship. Your mom expressed that she needed some space and told me, "I think I need space." She explained that we should consider ourselves separated and have the freedom to date other people without questioning each other's actions.

Kyle clarified that she is not dating her friend Morgan Wade and emphasized during Thursday's Amazon Live session that both she and Mauricio have agreed to see other people.

"We have the freedom to make our own decisions," she mentioned, sharing that she and Mauricio are discussing the possibility of moving out of their current home. "Luckily, we don't argue and we get along well, so it surprisingly works out."
