Gary Goldsmith believes that his niece, Princess Kate Middleton, handled the public scrutiny of her health very well. He mentioned during an appearance on the Spanish television show ¡De Viernes! on Friday, March 29, that he has been in contact with his sister Carole Middleton to ensure Kate's well-being. He acknowledged that Kate, who is 42 years old, has been facing a challenging and sensitive situation.
Goldsmith expressed, "I don’t know anybody else who’s had to deal with something like that, deal with their children and then have to offer explanations to the national and international media in such a public scenario."
Kate shared her cancer diagnosis following the spread of various conspiracy theories about her location on social media.
In a video filmed at Windsor Castle and released worldwide on March 22, she shared that she had undergone major abdominal surgery in London in January. Initially, it was believed that her condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful, but post-operation tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has now begun.
Kate also mentioned that she and Prince William took their time informing their children, Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5), about the news.
Having William by my side brings me great comfort and reassurance. The love, support, and kindness shown by so many of you mean a lot to both of us. We appreciate your understanding that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I undergo treatment. My work has always brought me joy, and I look forward to returning when I am able. Right now, my focus is on making a full recovery.
In the aftermath of her diagnosis, Kate and William, who is 41 years old, were noticeably absent from the Easter mass at St George's Chapel in Windsor on Sunday, March 31.
Goldsmith, 58, has been openly discussing Kate's well-being since his appearance on the U.K.'s Celebrity Big Brother last month. During the premiere of season 23 of the show, fellow contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu inquired about Kate.
Goldsmith responded, "She prefers not to discuss it, so I respect her privacy by not sharing any details. There is a certain code of etiquette to follow. If she decides to make an announcement, then I will share my thoughts."
Goldsmith decided to withdraw from the live Celebrity Big Brother finale on March 22. This was also the day when Kate's cancer diagnosis became public.
In a statement shared through X, Goldsmith expressed, "After hearing today's news, I have decided not to attend the Celebrity Big Brother final tonight. I want to thank my fellow Housemates and everyone who worked on this amazing show. I hope you all have a fantastic evening."
