James Middleton has shared a message of support for his sister, Princess Kate Middleton, during her cancer battle.
"Over the years, we have faced many challenges together. As a family, we will also face this one with you," James, 36, posted on Instagram on Friday, March 22, along with a throwback photo of the siblings.
Kate, 42, is the eldest daughter of Michael and Carole Middleton, who also share daughter Pippa Middleton and James.
Carole, 69, has been a pillar of support for Kate since her diagnosis.
In March, a source shared exclusively with We that Kate's mom has been staying with her to assist in her recovery.
Earlier that same month, Kate was seen riding in a car driven by Carole. This was Kate's first public outing since she attended the royal family's Christmas service in December 2023. She had undergone abdominal surgery just a month later.
Kate finally shared in a video released on Friday that she was diagnosed with cancer after undergoing major abdominal surgery in London in January. Initially, the condition was believed to be non-cancerous, but post-operation tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended preventative chemotherapy, which she has now begun in the early stages of treatment.
She continued: "William and I have been working hard to handle this situation privately for the sake of our young family. It has taken some time, especially for me to recover from surgery before starting my treatment."
William, who is 41 years old, and Kate decided to keep her diagnosis private until they could inform their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. They waited until the kids' school break for Easter before discussing it publicly.
Kate shared in her video, filmed at Windsor Castle, that she wanted to let her children know that she would be okay. She mentioned that she is doing well and getting stronger each day by focusing on healing her mind, body, and spirit. Kate also expressed gratitude for the comfort and reassurance she receives from having William by her side, as well as the love, support, and kindness shown by many. She emphasized the importance of privacy and space for her treatment, asking for understanding from everyone as they take time as a family to focus on her recovery.
Kensington Palace has stated that Kate will resume her official duties once she has been given the all-clear by her doctors. The statement also mentioned that she is feeling positive and is determined to fully recover.
