Princess Kate Middleton bravely shared her cancer diagnosis with the public on Friday, March 22.
One of Kate's friends revealed to The Sunday Times on Saturday, March 23 that she spoke from the heart in her disclosure. "It allowed her to connect directly with the public who have always supported her and her family, and who don't pay attention to rumors," the friend said. "She wrote every word herself, and it all came together rapidly."
Kensington Palace announced on Friday that Kate, 42, has been diagnosed with cancer. They shared a video of her sitting on a bench outside Windsor Castle, talking about her health journey. In the video, Kate was surrounded by daffodils, a symbol of hope for cancer patients.
Kate revealed that in January, she had a major abdominal surgery in London. Initially, it was believed that her condition was not cancerous. However, post-surgery tests showed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has started in the early stages.
She added, "William and I have been working hard to handle this situation privately for the sake of our children. It has been a process that has taken time. I needed time to heal from surgery before beginning treatment."
