Next month, there will be a missing royal at Trooping the Colour’s dress rehearsal. Princess Kate Middleton will not be fulfilling her role as Inspecting Officer this year, as confirmed by the palace on Thursday, May 30. Instead, Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE will be taking on her role. It has not been officially announced yet whether Kate, 42, will be present at the event on June 15, which marks the official birthday of the British Sovereign.
Kate shared earlier this year that she was diagnosed with cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery. She is currently receiving preventative treatment while still managing some royal duties, such as her work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Despite this, a representative confirmed on May 20 that the princess is currently on leave.
A spokesperson from Kensington Palace emphasized Kate's dedication to her public service commitments. They stated that her focus on these responsibilities will continue when she is able to return to work. However, they also stressed the importance of giving her the necessary space and privacy to recover at this time. Kate will only resume her duties once she has been cleared by medical professionals.
Prince William has been busy with his public duties and keeping everyone informed about his wife's health. During a royal engagement on May 10 at St. Mary's Community Hospital on the Isles of Scilly, administrator Tracy Smith asked him about Kate's condition. William, 41, reassured her that his wife is "doing well."

Prince William made a lighthearted comment about his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. He jokingly said, "The children are very jealous that I am here. Maybe we might come later in the year."
The couple marked their 13th anniversary in April. Royal author Christopher Andersen shared exclusively with We that Kate continues to be a shining presence, especially during challenging times.
Andersen, known for his book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, mentioned that the past year of William and Kate's marriage has been full of ups and downs, particularly after Kate's cancer diagnosis.
William and Kate have more reason than ever to involve their children in everything and maintain a positive atmosphere," he told Us. He also mentioned that despite facing difficulties, Kate always remains cheerful when she is with George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Editor's P/S:
The news of Princess Kate Middleton's absence from the upcoming Trooping the Colour's dress rehearsal is both concerning and understandable. Her ongoing health issues, including a recent cancer diagnosis, require proper attention and recovery time. It is reassuring to know that the palace is prioritizing her well-being by granting her leave and providing her with the necessary space and privacy.
Kate's dedication to her royal duties is evident, as she has continued to fulfill some responsibilities despite her health challenges. Her focus on early childhood development through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood is a testament to her commitment to making a positive impact. While it is disappointing that she will not be able to participate in the upcoming event, her health should take precedence. We wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to her return to public service when she is cleared by medical professionals.
