Kate Hudson shared a moving tribute to her friend Matthew Perry days after the late actor’s death.
"We indulged in countless rounds of tennis, engaging in endless conversations about the complexities of love, accompanied by fits of laughter that seemed to have no end," shared Hudson, 44, on her Instagram Story on Monday, October 30. "I share the same sorrow that resonates within our film and TV community, as we all had the privilege of sharing moments with Matthew."
Accompanying Hudson's post was a photo capturing her and Perry at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards. In the image, Hudson can be seen bursting into laughter, presumably in response to one of Perry's remarks.
“As you can see, to know him was to adore him,” Hudson continued. “I send my love and condolences to his family and his work families. We love you Matthew.”
Matthew Perry and Kate Hudson were pictured together backstage at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards. Unfortunately, Perry passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on October 28, at the age of 54, following a reported cardiac arrest.
There was no indication of foul play at the location, but the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has outstandingly deferred disclosing Perry's cause of death after the initial autopsy. The results of a toxicology report are still pending.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed on Monday, October 30, that Perry was already dead when first responders arrived at the scene. According to a spokesperson for the LAFD, a passerby had brought Perry's head above the water and got him to the edge before the firefighters arrived. Upon their arrival, the firefighters removed him from the water. Unfortunately, a quick medical assessment confirmed that Perry had died before the arrival of the first responders.
LAFD spokesperson Nicholas Prange stated that firefighters did not administer CPR to Perry upon arrival at his residence, as he was already beyond medical assistance. Following Perry's passing, his former Friends cast members, including Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc, released a collective statement honoring the actor. Perry portrayed Chandler Bing in the sitcom from 1994 to 2004.
“We are profoundly shattered by Matthew's tragic departure. Our connection went far beyond being colleagues; we were a close-knit family," expressed the actors to We on Monday. "There are countless words that could be said, but presently, we will pause, allowing ourselves time to mourn and come to terms with this unimaginable sorrow."
