Sydney Sweeney celebrated her Anyone But You costar Glen Powell's birthday with a heartfelt message. The 26-year-old star of Euphoria took to her Instagram Story on Saturday, October 21, describing Powell as a fellow camp counselor, adventure enthusiast, and someone with a great sense of humor. Alongside the message, Sweeney shared a selfie of the two, both donning sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats, looking happy and radiant.
Sweeney and Powell, both 35, shot their upcoming romantic comedy, Anyone But You, in Australia earlier this year. The on-screen chemistry between the co-stars sparked rumors about a real-life romance.
In August, Sweeney addressed the speculation in an interview with Variety, stating, "It's a rom-com, that's what audiences crave! It's entertaining to give them what they want." Sweeney has been engaged to Jonathan Davino since 2022.
Sweeney mentioned that neither she nor the Top Gun: Maverick star are affected by it.
"Glen and I are not bothered by it. We thoroughly enjoy each other's company and hold a great deal of respect for one another. He is incredibly dedicated, and so am I," Sweeney expressed. "We constantly have conversations like, 'That's truly hilarious.'"
Powell elicited surprise in April when his then-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, chose to unfollow him on Instagram. Subsequently, it was revealed that the former couple decided to end their three-year relationship.
In an exclusive statement to We, a source confirmed that Sweeney and Powell remained entirely professional during this period, yet the circulating rumors also had an impact on her connection with Davino, 38.
"It was widely known that they had developed a strong bond," revealed the anonymous source in May. "She values her reputation greatly, and undoubtedly, this poses a significant challenge to their relationship."
The initial teasers for Anyone But You were released during the autumn season. This romantic comedy, which revolves around former foes turned lovers, takes inspiration from William Shakespeare's renowned play, Much Ado About Nothing.
The pair find themselves in a unique situation at a destination wedding. Bea and Ben, who initially had a sizzling chemistry, suddenly experience a sudden shift in their relationship. However, fate brings them together again at a destination wedding in Australia. To navigate this unexpected circumstance, they decide to pretend to be a couple, like any responsible adults would.
The film, directed by Will Gluck (known for Easy A), also stars Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, and Rachel Griffiths. Anyone But You, set to release on December 22, also has Sweeney and Davino on board as executive producers.
