Joy Behar accidentally made a mistake when she tried to congratulate Jimmy Kimmel for his job as host of the 96th Academy Awards.

During the March 12 episode of The View, Behar, who is 81 years old, explained that she knows Kimmel personally. She wanted to send him an email to praise him for bravely using humor to take on a controversial figure, referring to Kimmel's joke about Donald Trump staying up past his "jail time" to criticize Kimmel's hosting skills on social media.

Behar continued, "But I sent it to Jimmy Fallon."

When asked by her fellow panelist Sunny Hostin if Fallon, 49, responded to the text, Behar admitted, "I mean, no, no. I’m not great with technology. It's a wonder I didn't send it to Jimmy Carter."

Not everyone thought it was a good idea for Behar to read Trump's scathing Truth Social post live on air, despite Behar appreciating Kimmel's joke during the Sunday, March 10, awards show.

During their annual Live After Oscar Show, Jimmy Kimmel, 56, shared a funny moment with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Kimmel mentioned that he was told he had some extra time, but he insisted on reading a tweet from Trump despite being advised not to.

Kimmel's wife, Molly McNearney, who worked as a producer for the awards show, revealed in an interview with Variety on Monday, March 11, that she was one of the people who tried to convince Kimmel not to mention Trump, 77.

During the interview, McNearney, 46, admitted, "I have to admit, I tried to persuade Jimmy not to read that." She continued, "Usually, I trust my instincts, but this time I was wrong. I told him, 'Please don't read this.' When he asked why, I explained, 'I don't want to give Trump airtime at the Oscars. This is the one occasion where we don't have to discuss him. We talk about him every night... This night is not about him or politics.'"

McNearney noticed that despite her concerns, Kimmel was confident that the joke would be a success.

"He had a sparkle in his eye and he confidently said, 'I got this.' This is where he excels," she shared. "I have to admit, I won't be able to win any arguments in our house anymore!"

Kimmel and McNearney tied the knot in 2013 and share daughter Jane, 9, and son Billy, 6. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host also shares daughter Katie, 32, and son Kevin, 30, with ex-wife Gina Maddy.
