When Travis Kelce arrived at an NBA Playoffs game wearing jeans full of holes, he probably knew that his daring fashion choice would spark a flurry of internet jokes. Surprisingly, his brother Jason joined in on the teasing.
Kelce, who is 34 years old, sported ripped blue jeans and a white T-shirt with an apple design at the Dallas Mavericks-Minnesota Timberwolves game in Texas on Sunday, May 26. The Super Bowl champion, known for dating Taylor Swift, sat courtside with his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes and Mahomes' wife Brittany to witness the Mavericks triumph over the Timberwolves.
The tight end stood out with his unique red-rimmed sunglasses, but it was his pants that really caught everyone's eye.
One Swiftie made a joke on X about Taylor's jeans, saying, "what the f–k did taylor cats do with his jeans." Jason, 36, found it hilarious and reposted the joke, giving it a thumbs up. "Now that's funny!" he commented.
(Swift, a proud cat lover, is mom to three felines: Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button.)
The brothers often playfully tease each other on their popular podcast "New Heights", where they both host. This makes it clear that Kelce most likely found Jason's comment very amusing.
The reception he got at the American Airlines Center in Dallas was not very welcoming. When Kelce’s face appeared on the Jumbotron on Sunday, the crowd began booing. At first, he looked surprised, with his jaw dropping and his hands on his chest. However, he soon laughed and clapped as the camera shifted to his quarterback, Patrick, who received cheers and pumped up the fans in the stands.
Patrick and Brittany are originally from Texas, which might explain why the audience was excited to see them. The couple has been together since their time at Whitehouse High School, located about an hour and a half outside of Dallas.
Kelce has been in the spotlight while Swift continues her Eras Tour overseas. Over Memorial Day weekend, the 34-year-old pop star performed in Portugal and is gearing up for her upcoming show in Spain. Kelce flew to Paris to attend her concert on May 12 in the City of Love. He was seen dancing and singing along to “So High School,” a track from Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, which seems to allude to their joyful, high-profile relationship.
During a recent episode of “New Heights,” Kelce couldn't help but praise Swift's Paris show. “I don’t know if they’re just getting better or if I keep forgetting how they are,” he said. “It was electric in there. … I’m happy for everybody on the Eras Tour, from the dancers to the band, and especially Taylor. They all seem to be having a blast up there.”
