Jana Kramer ensured that her former spouse, Mike Caussin, was aware of the heartfelt tribute she dedicated to him in her latest book, The Next Chapter.
"I am aware that you haven't perused the book in its entirety, but there is a specific section that I would appreciate your attention," shared Kramer, aged 39, during the episode of her podcast "Whine Down" on Monday, October 30. "It can be found within the acknowledgments."
Despite initial hesitations, Caussin complied with Kramer's requests and proceeded to read the acknowledgements aloud. In the acknowledgements, the former NFL star expressed gratitude to his ex-partner for demonstrating kindness and respect, despite their shared disbelief in the direction their story took.
Kramer, who shares two children, Jolie (7) and Jace (4), with Caussin prior to their separation in 2021, explained her intention to express appreciation towards him. She expressed feeling the need to apologize on his behalf throughout their six-year marriage. She admitted struggling in their relationship, often placing blame by saying phrases like "well, you did this" or "you did that." Kramer conveyed her apologies for any role she played in causing him to feel a certain way about himself. She acknowledged her regrets for any contribution she made to that narrative.
Caussin accepted his ex's apology after defending Kramer's past actions. He jokingly remarked that he had noticed that women, in general, find it difficult to apologize. He stated that he didn't feel the need to read Kramer's book because he trusts whatever she wrote, regardless of whether he agrees with it or not. Caussin emphasized that the content of the book doesn't concern him, as it is about Kramer and her next chapter. He expressed his love, respect, and unconditional support for her.

Kramer's book, released on October 24, details the aftermath of her tumultuous breakup with Caussin. Along with exposing Caussin's repeated infidelity and revealing a hurtful statement he made during their divorce argument, Kramer recounts an incident where Caussin threw wet laundry at her during a heated dispute.
The argument erupted when Caussin neglected to wash a specific bra that Kramer required following her 2021 breast augmentation. Kramer reminisces her ex's hurtful words, "'I didn't know you were such a f—king cripple,'" which preceded his act of throwing the wet garments at her. As a result, Kramer suffered a fall and was left in tears on the floor.
"In typical Ex fashion, he defiantly stated, 'That didn't even hurt. Now get the hell off the ground,'" she recalled. In her book, Kramer refrained from explicitly mentioning Caussin by name. "It was in that moment, in the laundry room, that everything finally fell into place for me – I realized I needed to snap out of it."
The former pair officially ended their relationship in April 2021, following Kramer's revelation of Caussin's infidelity once more. Since then, they have managed to evolve into amicable co-parents for their two children.
"Having witnessed the way we've seamlessly embraced coparenting and prioritized our children over our individual narratives, I genuinely believe that we are excelling in our roles. I couldn't be prouder of our accomplishments," Kramer shared with We in April. She is currently anticipating her first child with Allan Russell, her boyfriend."
