Jana Kramer has shared her thoughts on Miranda Lambert's recent controversy involving a selfie scandal.
Earlier this month, Lambert, who is 39 years old, captured attention when a TikTok video of her reprimanding concert attendees for taking selfies during her performance went viral. In the video, the acclaimed country singer paused her song to express her frustration, highlighting that she felt irritated that some girls seemed more concerned with taking selfies than paying attention to the music.
Kramer, aged 39, saw no issue with the fans’ actions. During the "Whine Down" podcast episode on Monday, July 24, she expressed her enthusiasm for people taking selfies. She mentioned that she often joins in and says "cheese" because she believes it is part of their concert experience and a way for her to be involved.
The "Let It Burn" singer added that she would even encourage fans to take as many selfies as they want, even if they wanted to be in the photo alone. She saw the situation as a respectful one where fans simply wanted to capture a memory, and she felt it was actually rude to think otherwise.
Kramer acknowledged that she once called out an audience member during a live recording of "Whine Down" for watching sports on his phone. However, she clarified that she did it in a comedic manner to elicit laughter. She emphasized that she would only call someone out if they were being inappropriate, excessively loud, or disturbing the show for others.
Lambert's reaction was deemed unwarranted not just by Kramer, but also by one of the fans who had been reprimanded. Adela Calin, a concertgoer, expressed her opinion on the incident, likening it to being scolded by a teacher back in school for doing something wrong and being told to return to her seat. Calin told NBC News earlier this month that she felt Kramer was determined to portray them as young, immature, and self-centered, despite the fact that they were simply grown women in their 30s to 60s trying to take a picture.
Calin added that she was “appalled” by Lambert’s response and noted that her group’s selfie session “took 30 seconds at most.”

Lambert, meanwhile, went on to praise another fan for wearing a shirt that read, ‘Shoot tequila, not selfies,’ to one of her subsequent shows.
During her show at the Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency on Saturday, July 22, the "Mama's Broken Heart" musician noticed a fan wearing a shirt that read, "Shoot tequila, not selfies." Lambert expressed her approval by stating, "She did it, I didn't! ... That's badass." Lambert then proceeded to approach the fan and graciously accepted a mini bottle of tequila. After taking a sip, she then passed the rest to her guitarist, Ethan Ballinger.
