James Gunn's Superman Reboot: Meet the New Cast of Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher

The upcoming Superman film, Superman: Legacy, directed by James Gunn, continues to make progress despite the recent actors' strike. Skyler Gisondo and Sara Sampaio have joined the cast in key roles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gisondo, known for his work in HBO's The Righteous Gemstones and Licorice Pizza, will play the role of Jimmy Olsen, the youthful photographer at The Daily Planet. This isn't Gisondo's first foray into the superhero genre, having appeared in Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man films. Sampaio, a Victoria's Secret model, has been cast as Eve Teschmacher, the assistant to the cunning antagonist Lex Luthor, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult.

New cast members have been added to the film, joining the previously announced David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Filming is scheduled to start early next year, aligning with the movie's expected release date of July 11, 2025.

Several other studios have made changes to their superhero movie release dates. Marvel Studios recently announced that Deadpool 3 and Captain America: Brave New World will now be released on July 26, 2024, and February 14, 2025, respectively. Marvel Studios will only have one movie in theaters next year.

Superman: Legacy was revealed in January and will mark the beginning of a new DC lineup led by Gunn and his DC Studios co-head Peter Safran. It will be featured in Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, which will also feature Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and The Brave and the Bold.
