Jacob Elordi, the breakout star of The Kissing Booth and Euphoria, recently disclosed that he declined the opportunity to audition for the coveted role of Superman, explaining his instantaneous lack of enthusiasm for such an iconic character. The Australian actor continues to rise in prominence, currently captivating audiences as Elvis in Sofia Coppola's latest Priscila film.
The actor's fans had been excited to see him play Superman when it was revealed that the character would be rebooted by Zack Snyder. However, it has since been announced that David Corenswet will be taking on the role in the upcoming film "Superman: Legacy." Despite this, Elordi revealed in a recent interview with GQ magazine that he had been asked to audition for the role during DC's casting process. Elordi then went on to explain his decision to decline the opportunity to audition for Superman.
Jacob Elordi declined the opportunity to audition for the role of Superman, citing that the character's dark nature did not appeal to him.
The actor further elaborated on his refusal, expressing that he finds it difficult to maintain interest as a spectator while watching Superhero movies, which ultimately affects his enthusiasm for acting in them.
"I've always been advised to give a diplomatic response, otherwise my agent will be displeased. 'Anything is possible!' they say. And indeed, anything can happen. However, at this point in my life, I simply don't see myself being interested in that genre. I prefer to work on projects that align with my own viewing preferences, as I tend to become restless while watching those types of movies."
The actor also mentioned, "I'm expected to conclude with: 'Never say never'", when questioned about the possibility of joining the superhero film industry in the future.
Only time will reveal if Elordi will eventually enter either the MCU or DCEU as a fresh superhero. Nonetheless, we will ensure that you stay informed about the most recent casting updates for both of these universes.

As a Gen Z netizen, I have mixed feelings about Jacob Elordi's decision to reject the Superman role. On the one hand, I understand his reasoning. Superhero movies have become increasingly dark and serious in recent years, and it's understandable that Elordi might not be interested in that type of role. On the other hand, I can't help but feel a little disappointed. Superman is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, and it would have been amazing to see Elordi bring his own unique take to the character.
Elordi's decision also raises some interesting questions about the future of superhero movies. Are audiences starting to tire of the dark and gritty superhero movies that have been so popular in recent years? Is there still an appetite for more lighthearted and fun superhero movies? Only time will tell, but Elordi's decision to reject the Superman role is a sign that the superhero movie genre is at a crossroads.
