A stunning new piece of fan art has brought together seven live-action Superman actors for an epic DC crossover, uniting multiple generations of the iconic Man of Steel. Superman is one of the few DC characters who has been reimagined time and time again for live-action, with powerful portrayals on both the big screen and in television for decades. Even today, Superman's rich history in live-action continues to be celebrated as new fans discover old shows and movies. The highly talented digital artist, Art of Time Travel, has recently paid tribute to all live-action versions of Superman in an impressive artwork titled, "The League of Supermen."
What's Next For Superman In Live-Action?
The poster showcases a lineup of iconic actors who have portrayed the legendary superhero, Superman. From left to right, George Reeves (Adventures of Superman), Christopher Reeve (Superman: The Movie), Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), Tom Welling (Smallville), Brandon Routh (Superman Returns, Crisis on Infinite Earths), Henry Cavill (DCEU), and Tyler Hoechlin (Superman & Lois) are depicted in their respective Superman costumes. The poster is a tribute to the various versions of the character that have graced our screens over the years. Tyler Hoechlin's portrayal of Superman has even allowed him to interact with both Tom Welling and Brandon Routh's versions of the character during the Arrowverse crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The future of Superman in both TV and movie adaptations is uncertain, with the fate of Superman & Lois hanging in the balance as The CW has yet to announce a season 4 renewal. However, fans can look forward to a new Superman film titled Superman: Legacy, which will be written and directed by James Gunn for the DC Universe. The casting process is ongoing as they search for the perfect actors to portray Superman, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and other characters related to the iconic superhero.
Warner Bros. is currently in the process of developing a Black Superman reboot, which will be helmed by J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates. While DC Studios remains focused on their interconnected franchise, co-CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran are also exploring Elseworlds stories, creating an opportunity for the Black Superman movie to come to fruition.
