According to Deadline, screen tests are scheduled for next week, with Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, and Tom Brittney in the running for the coveted role of Clark Kent. Meanwhile, Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Phoebe Dynevor are being considered for the role of the iconic Daily Planet reporter, Lois Lane. Although some of the test deals are still being negotiated, it seems that the cast for Superman: Legacy is getting closer to being finalized.
When The Next Superman Actor Could Be Revealed
According to reports, Superman: Legacy is prioritizing the casting of Clark and Lois before moving onto other characters. Deadline has revealed that Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen are the next roles to be cast after the leads. This leads to speculation that DC Studios may be aiming to make an announcement about the Superman and Lois Lane casting in the near future, possibly at San Diego Comic-Con. With Marvel Studios dominating the spotlight at recent SDCC events, having Superman: Legacy updates and castings ready could give Warner Bros. a chance to compete with Disney.
Given that principal photography is set to begin in January 2024, it is not surprising that Superman: Legacy is already moving towards the screen test stage. This allows the cast ample time to prepare during pre-production, including training, costume fitting, and stunt training.
