CBS officially announced the cancellation of the sitcom on November 14, with the seventh and final season consisting of 14 episodes. This decision was in line with the three-year renewal confirmed in 2021 as reported by Deadline.

In a statement, President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach expressed, "Young Sheldon has proven that lightning can strike twice as a prequel to one of the biggest comedies. The remarkable cast immediately felt like a family on screen and brought characters to life with heartfelt, unique stories that captivated audiences from the start."

She went on to say: "A heartfelt thank you to executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, and Steve Holland, as well as the entire writing and producing teams, for six amazing seasons.

Following the announcement, Sheldon star Armitage shared heartfelt reflections on his journey working on the show on Instagram the next day.

He shared a throwback photo of himself with co-stars Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan, expressing his love for his family. He also thanked the 200 people who make @youngsheldoncbs happen, and expressed gratitude for each of them. He promised to make the best 7th season possible, with lots of laughter and tears behind the scenes because he loves all of these people so much.
